Lightning arrow of electrocution not repeating lightning
I've been playing arround with lightning arrow of electrocution, and i notice a lower dps compared to normal lightning arrow on single target situation. I even tried on packs and i could see the lightning repeat on some of my secondary targets, but not on the main target. For me something seems off as per description, i should expect nearly twice the damage of lightning arrow from the new transfigured gem, but in practice, normal lightning arrow does more damaga on single target

Sniper's mark makes the projectiles split. Marked enemy is not the final target.

I did not know split from sniper mark will have that effect. Now for me the question that comes is if it is intended or not, as this renders sniper mark useless in single target situations with the skill

Lightning Arrow of Electrocution works similar to Explosive Arrow/Ensnaring Arrow, where only the final target hit takes the lightning hit, making it WAY better with like, Barrage Support and other such things, but horrid with basically ANY projectile modifier because they won't be the last target hit.
LAE also has WAY lower damage scaling, all for just 3[4 with 20%] guaranteed lightning hits on the last target. On a single target with Barrage? Probably pretty good. Fury Valve[or Sniper Mark] makes it interesting for pack clears because the splits will stick to enemies, but your primary target will essentially never get that lightning unless you get lucky Deadeye Ricochet could be interesting to do with it, get some Ricochet Charms with 20%, have 3 of em plus Ricochet itself and you get 90% wall bounce chance, and with a That Which Was Taken that has it as well you can get guaranteed wall bounces. But that's so much investment, all for maybe more damage? Base Lightning Arrow does it on Hit, does better damage scaling, does better AoE, AND scales Shocks better. The ONLY thing LAE has is that it also does the lightning strike on hit, just without the AoE, without the Shock Scaling, AND with not even half the damage scaling of the original. " LAE works like poison does in terms of ramping. If you manage to stack 10 max stacks within 2 seconds (assuming 10%) quality, then you have 10 75% damage hits simultaneously every .5 seconds, or essentially, 20 hits a second. This makes it one of the best single target bow skills in the game assuming you can ramp freely, but even with only 3-4 stacks, it out scales nearly every other bow skill in terms of ST. " Indeed, if you match the right attack speed with the number of arrows you stick, you get much more single target damage. My issue is sniper mark is a must for most ranged builds as it increase damage taken from projectiles by at least 40% without extra quality from gear. Seeing how it interacts with LAE, this is a big dps loss. For me what i expected from sniper mark is the splits to be considered "new" projectiles, which is not the case. My question still remains if that is intended behaviour or not. Seeing in general the amount of damage it does, it's still quiet interesting without the sniper mark, but lets aggree, no one wants to miss that bonus. |
