Polymath not working?

I have polymath and about 12 passive tree masteries allocated and I am not getting energy shield and seems like life or mana for each kill.
(hard to tell with my regen so high on life an mana, but pretty sure I should be seeing a nice return when I kill a group of mobs) Is this broken? or am I missing something?? Polymath: 3% more damage for each different type of mastery you have allocated recover 1% of life on kill for each different type of mastery you have allocated recover 1% of energy shield on kill for each different type of mastery you have allocated recover 1% of mana on kill for each different type of mastery you have allocated We can't solve problems we can't talk about...
