Spectres get raised as forest warriors

I just noticed when I bought my new turtle and raised it, it became a forest warrior, only to find out my other spectre (the one that smmites) Also turned into a forest warrior somewhere along the way of me reraising them while changing gear.
at first i thought it might just be a visual bug, but I don't get the aura from the perfect turtle, or see any smite aura's appaear in combat
