Venting against the heist reward "rebalance"
I ran 5 grand heists, all 4 wings each ranging from level 75 to 83, same setup as I would do last season start with gem grand heists and which I have used for 400+ blueprints only in 3.22.
Setup: Gianna +1 all jobs tool 25% increased main heist target value(self sustaining rogue markers) 3x clocks with 4-5% to not trigger lockdown when opening a curio case Last league: For a price of 8-15c for each grand heist +8-9c for the contracts to identify the blueprint I'd get on average: 4+ gems per heist with a minimum sell value of 5-8c each, average gems were worth 15-20c, jackpot gems were worth 1+ div which in the worst case scenario would be 5c profit, in the average case 30-50c profit and in a good case 1+ div profit FOR EACH BLUEPRINT. This league: For a price of 5c for each blueprint and +8-9c for the contracts to identyfy said blueprint totaling 75c, I got IN TOTAL: 14 2-4c uniques, 28 stacked deck for a value of 1.5c each, 19 orbs of unmaking and 31 chaos orbs. This brings my average profit PER BLUEPRINT to a wooping 8c for 40 minutes of work making the average blueprint slightly better then the worst possible streak you could get last patch and compared to the average scenario a 70-90% reduction in profit with a jackpot I probably won't even see since blueprints now seem an absolute waste of time to run. Meanwhile sanctum runners get on average 1-2+ divine per run over 1 hour starting in act 7 with 0 setup or defences required. While I knew there was no hope for a "reward rebalance" to go well I did not expect it would pretty much kill the only mechanic I enjoyed running in the game so please, kindly do something about it. Can we take a moment to appreciate Heist now being in the unique situation where the mechanic is now multifold more worthwile for SSF than in trade?
As a SSF player, I love the change. Running blueprints is now incredibly worth it since you're getting a choice of mixed items (a lot of bubblegum currency, replicas, other uniques and experimental rares) where you always can make use of at least 1 option. So in a sense, this was (probably unintendently) a rework balanced around SSF, not trade. Doubt we've ever had that one before. Love it. One step closer to PoE becoming a great singleplayer game. |

It sounds more exciting than gem farming at least. And op i am sure if you grind long enough and hit one of them chase uniques the profit will avarage out to a reasonable amount. Thatz means a lot of variance of course and not so much steady income.
Also +1 for the ssf point of view. A change in that direction is certainly good. Last edited by Strickl3r#3809 on Dec 11, 2023, 1:37:07 PM

Well as someone who got their 4 gem tabs worth of alt gems snapped out of existance let me tell you gems were way more interesting then getting replica leer cast in every single wing of my grand heist since at least most of them were build fixing or build defyning opposite to the new gem system. Also don't know how valuable and sought after those low tier replicas are but I'd say after your third blueprint you'll have all of them and it becomes way worse then being able to target farm the layouts you want.
Sure you can say before if a blueprint dropped and it wasn't the one you wanted to run you would just not run it while it could have random loot with the current system but it's honestly such a strech to say having random rewards out of the whole heist pool is better then having a way to target farm the wings you want. While trinket and currency blueprints were ran for specific trinket purpouses and some random currency, enchanted armaments had tailoring and tempering orb, and replicas had cool uniques and fancy bases there is a reason most people ran gem heists, and now that gems are gone(for reasons I still don't understand why did they not just keep them in heist and just put the gemcrafting font there and instread they got put into lab which is literally the single most annoying part of the game who should have been removed/reworked yesterday IMO) there is little to no point running them in trade except hoping for a jackpot and there is little to no point in running them in ssf after the first few times since after all the layouts stay the same keeping their chest rewards which if you wanted you could run with the old system aswell and haven't really played ssf for more then a few weeks but 20 chaos would not change my life in an ssf scenario either so really it's just way worse no matter the playstyle you have. New heist is just bad. Was a big heist enjoyer.
This league is a huge setback for poe. Ultimatum unrewarding Heist only mediocre Lab dead League mechanic unrewarding and overpowered New gems don't look good compared to alt quality gems that gone away. |

Yeah at the very least alt gems were straight up good to the point you could never stop optimizing a build since you always had a next goal on the horizon.
The new ones are so bad they don't even feel like they're there(except a few exceptions) and all the alt quality supports are now just gone. It's just sad. Ultimatum reward pool got diluted way too much due to catalysts basically being half of the rewards you get. Can't speak about lab but I can say for sure I have not run it once beside having to for my ascendency. It's just not my cup of tea and I don't see the new gems making that much of a profit to make it worth running over and over, but once again I woulnd't know. |

I think the biggest problem is that the pricing for uncovering wings and rooms was balanced around the old profits. Now, you waste money if you do a Grand Heist.
If GGG would like to address this, perhaps they could change the prices for uncovering and reduce the amount of replicas in end rooms. But, as it stands, there is no long-term profit in comparison to simply farming maps directly. |

" +1 I mean Lab? why do they have to choose lab to give out gem rewards of all the mechanics that are in the game. lab sucks. unfun, tedious, repetitive, boring, no variety, just the same layout, same area, terrain, same izaro, and poor argus. player agency, where?
"do you guys not have phones?" - blizz 2018 "do you guys not have 2 monitors, 3 overlays, 4 discord, 5 websites, 6 loot filters?" - ggg or smth 2024 "deal with it" - ggg, 2024 |

I feel the pain my last i83 corrupted rare blueprint best drop wing reward was a replica bitter dream. This has been a common loot occurrence: crap replica, crap enchanted armament. A decent blueprint will have a 18-20c or regrets and even then doesn't make it worth the time invested and currency to get to the point of running the blueprints. Meanwhile MF gets a huge buff when they don't even need one. Don't go down the Diablo 4 route and make things worst to where people will quit playing your game.

I can add a little from a group-self-found perspective. Been farming tons of Heist for an Eventuality Rod for myself and a Micro-Distillery Belt for a friend, and didn't see either until my 30th Grand Heist.
Doesn't help that one wing might offer you 1 currency curio and 5x enchanted bases (which are trash past 2 days of a league for the most part) and so heavily diluted that you barely ever find anything worth picking. Frustrated, I sometimes skip the final room as the small chests are better rewards. Kinda sad, because Grand Heist should be the highlight of the Heist mechanic, but I'd rather spam Deception and Lockpicking contracts.. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
