Skills that work well with CDR. Does CDR have a limit? Best way to stack Abyss jewels?
1) What skills other than Frozen Legion & Traps work well with CDR? What else?
Someone mentioned that skill that teleports you back to where you were previously, is that good? Other skills for CDR? Someone also mentioned the bird helm wind tornadoes tho that may lag my pc. 2) Why are people saying CDR has a 52% Threshhold, tho that's for CoC threads? Does CDR has a dps decrease past 52% for other skills like Frozen Legion? Or am I able to scale CDR higher for frozen legion than just 52%? Also the fact that Frozen Legion doesn't even use crit nodes or so I hear. That the spell tag doesn't work for spell crit, since the frozen sweep is a seperate attack the statues do & not you attacking. 3) CDR is on Abyss jewels tho only gives 2% for some chaos per Abyss. and 3% CDR for 1 div. If I'm able to go above 52% threshhold for Frozen, then wouldn't stacking 10 of these abyss jewels be worth? What's the best way to stack just Stigian Belt and the tree? Are their other items to socket them to? Also if Stygian Vise buffs Abyss jewels by 80%, what is that for 2% CDR? How much CDR does it offer? Or should I just get the regular CDR belts that give 18% CDR. What other items give CDR? I know of belt and boot enchant. Someone said Duel Wands with Power charges has a implicit tho POE trade doesn't show any weapon at all giving CDR. Someone also linked a 2 hand anillhilater staff that gave 25%. Tho I don't see any weapon listed for any type of CDR. Zero. So ye threshhold is just for CoC right? Not other skills? or for all skill theirs a limit for CDR? & ye what other gem ideas are useful for CDR? I know of guard skills. How about counter attacks? Yet someone said counter attack gems are low dps and need a buff. Also I'd need a ton of block recovery to get use of them ? 100 people towns with hang out fields. Witcher taverns. Temporal Rift is the one that teleports you backwards, but it's a bad skill. Generally you only want CDR for builds that use Cast when Damage Taken or Cast on Crit, though skills like Frozen Legion and Impending Doom scale their damage with CDR as well.
Highly recommend you read the wiki article on how CDR is used in calculations https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Cooldown#Mechanic, and the reddit thread with the CoC CDR/Attack speed breakpoints https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/nnipmr/important_cast_on_crit_info_cdr_breakpointsattack/. The 52% value is discussed there. As discussed in the resources above, Frozen Legion doesn't have breakpoints, so each %cdr that you get benefits you. However, the low amounts of CDR you get from abyssal jewels really isn't enough to warrant stacking them (unless you can get lots of other good stats on them but then it gets really expensive). You can get more abyssal sockets with Hollow Fossils, and you can of course socket them on your passive tree. You can get more CDR on belt, boot eldritch implicit, boot influenced mod (which can be elevated). CoC gets a lot from Awakened Cast on Crit. The wiki article I linked above has most of the sources. Sweet. Thanks!
Suppose I'll see google for cast when damage taken. Maybe use the new frostblink. 100 people towns with hang out fields. Witcher taverns. Free hair style options. PoE servers tick every 0.033 seconds. That means all damage that occurs within the window since the last tick occur simultaneously. This is very important with how CDR functions because the cooldown period doesn't start until the tick and has to wait until the next tick.
Take CWDT. It as a 0.25 second CD, but the servers tick at 0.231 and 0.264 seconds. That means without any CDR you effectively have a 0.264 CD. With a mere 9% CDR you bring the CD to 0.231 and with 27% CDR 0.198 seconds. That means 0-8% CDR has no benefit, 9-26% bring you down one tick and 27-51% brings you down a second. Two ticks is 33% more casts than the original. Of course any other base CD duration will have different caps, but it's important to know where those caps are if you rely on those for damage. |

Increased cooldown recovery rate (CDR) should not have a limit, but is affected by diminishing returns due to it's percentage nature. The formula is "Cooldown of the Skill" divided by (1 + your CDR percentage)
A skill with a 3 second cooldown and 50% CDR yields a 2 second cooldown skill (3/1.5 = 2). This is 33% faster than you could use the skill from zero CDR. This 50% CDR thus provides 33% more skill usage. The same skill with 100% CDR gives you a 1.5 second cooldown. (3/2 = 1.5). This is 25% faster than you could use the skill from 50% CDR. That means this 50% CDR only gives 25% more skill usage. The same skill with 150% CRD gives you a 1.2 second cooldown. (3/2.5 = 1.2). This is 20% faster than you could use the skill from 100% CDR. That means this 50% CDR only gives 20% more skill usage. As you can see, the more you invest into CDR, the LESS benefit you get from it and the harder it is to acquire larger amounts. The same can be said with pretty much any modifier you stack. You need to have a balance of a lot of different modifiers. 5% CDR on a main skill may not seem like much, but it still equates to being able to use a skill 4.76% more often, which is like attack speed or cast speed, but for cooldowns. With a damage skill, this stacks multiplicatively with your other sources of damage. This is what makes the property so strong in some builds, so is forced to be balanced by showing up in low percentages. Of course, the game rounds a skill's cooldown up to the nearest server tick, so for particularly short cooldowns, there are breakpoints where you can use a skill one tick faster and investing in additional CDR wouldn't do anything until you hit the next breakpoint. |
