problem that might make it NOT return is simple:

that one gem, one line of quality gave like 2000%+ increased damage

it is unhealthy number, no matter how you look at it

i didnt even know this gem and these builds existed because ive not been keeping up with the everything going on in game like i used to many years ago.

but that sounds absolutely broken beyond all sense.

i get that in the context of the builds maybe the builds are fine and needed something that broken to bring them up to par. ok, i can sympathise with that and how removing it kills the builds. but that coming from 1 gem is stupid, thats really bad.

if i were the devs and i wanted to keep these builds i would absolutely remove that gem from the game and then whatever its doing, split it down into 10 smaller versions of the same stat and put them on the passive tree, on gear.

what is it? % increased damage per mana spent? can that be a prefix mod and then have a second hybrid prefix of mana + damage per mana spent on rings, int gloves, weapons, have some mana nodes for it on the tree, have a mana mastery for it. allow people to get the power back with interest build and itemisation options that are a reasonable investment?

surely thats the way to go and having a gem with 4 figure increased damage on it is just an absurd abomination?

It only gives so much because the ENTIRE build is built upon that, literally EVERYTHING from gear to skill tree is all built for that. It is like saying we should remove tornado shot because tornado shot does damage. That support gem effectively is the damage gem, whatever skill you use to actually hit things with are just a way to transfer the damage to enemies.

To be clear, the build is not xxxx skill with this support as an insane damage number, the build IS this support gem with whatever skill to apply that damage. If you simply add it back so that it only does 40% dmg or whatever a normal support can do then the build still doesn't exist because that is not how the build works.

It is also not like this is early game gearing numbers, this is top of the line gear. This build spends more mana per few seconds than most builds probably spend in an entire evening.

I should also add that these kind of numbers already exist on other items, one example is Indigon which gets up to 2000%, but is limited to spells only.
