Vaal side areas rework.
In theory it was good.
You have a chance to get an ultimatum fragment, double corrupted uniques, vaal temple maps. You can roll them to make sure it's safe to run them in hc. What we actually have are reflect and insanely low weightings on good modifiers. Like it's not even worth it to spend time rolling those + you're losing precious atlas passive points. Also no way to tell what mods you get in endless unique zone. You just have to go in blind and read mods in the zone itself. My suggestions are: 1)Lucid dreams should just remove "corrupted" tag but zone should be rare by default. 2)Make good modifiers more common. 3)Remove reflect or make it easier to see like dangerous modifier. The Vaal Side areas were disappointing this league, so it would be cool if the modifiers were reworked. Like more guaranteed drops from the vessel and such, more monster modifiers, and less build disabling mods.
I don't know if the Lucid Dreams was good, as the crafting of Vaal Side areas was never appealing enough for me. If it had additionally that Vaal Side Areas had 100% increased modifiers I would be more for it. :D Last edited by Celd#2630 on Nov 27, 2023, 11:37:48 AM

I've seen Vaal side areas in acts that had reflect... Seems not WAI, since people typically say reflect isn't a thing until maps.
They're fun, pretty enjoyable flavor to them tbh. Reflect numbers probably just need adjusting according to damage needed to kill a mob vs player, or, cap reflected damage to a certain value per mob or rarity of mob. Example: "Monsters reflect 10% damage from hits." 1,000 hp monster is hit for 5,000 damage. We first scale down to actual mob hp, 1,000. Then we cut it by 90% to 100 dmg reflected, since we've reached mob max hp/es, no more reflect dmg can be dealt. This changes reflect significantly and makes it more tolerable for players with high dps and fast/simultaneous hit rates. |

" Reflect evolves into being a 0/1 mechanic because how aggressively player power scales with gear and investment. I played exsanguinate pathfinder which deals damage as DOT but also has some hit damage too. Until gem level 24-25 this hit damage didn't really trigger physical reflect, at 26-27 it became noticeable especially when it was launched towards a big cluster of mobs (eg a blight ravaged map) and above level 28 it was pretty much instant death to my character. So my build developed much more DPS and could do juiced content but at the same time lost the ability to vaal maps willy nilly because of reflect that's impossible to deal with anymore. Elemental attack builds at least have awakened gem that negates it completely. Physical reflect is only negated by a duelist ascendancy i think? |
