make it lvl 100 "exclusive" - real penalty for dying in SC - my point of view
So... in the past lvl 100 was reserved to top players. When I saw someone 95+ in game I was sure that dude must play with good build. Right now when I see someone on lvl 95 my first thought is "probably guy leveling new build". This happen because there is no real penalty for dying in SC.
My proposition: 1) increase penalty loss from 10% to 50% 2) last 3 levels (97+) --> made them exclusive - that mean you can downgrade your level if you die. For example you are on lvl 98 and 20% xp. You die --> now you are on 97 and 70%. All that zhp builds still can exist but on lvl 97. This will make lvl 100 more exclusive and people will try to build more balanced characters. I saw many people playing high budget builds (1 mirror and up) but without 5 way leveling they will probably never hit lvl 100 because they put "all in" in to dmg. yet another short-sighted, misrepresentation of the issue:
the exp penalty is NOT a factor in reaching level 100. Stop using it in arguments. Those that want Level 100 are already almost "exclusively" using leveling services. Even de-leveling wouldn't change this. Want to solve the Level 100 problem? I can see only one solution (and its NOT a good one): make leveling 96 through 100 be a solo act. You CAN'T level past 95 if you are in a party. Why is this the only solution? Because EVEN IF they drastically reduce party exp bonus, or completely remove it, players will STILL passively level to 100 using these methods. Ultimately though, I don't care about any of this. I have made thousands of characters across my 10 years in this game. I have made thousands more in D2 before this. Not once have I maxed a character's level in either game, and not once have I felt like I was missing out on anything. It is pretty darn easy to get to 95 or even 96 in this game with VERY little effort, and a fairly well developed build doesn't really need those last few passives except for really tiny 1% benefits. They need to incentive post-level 100 play in order for me to care. As far as "in the past, level 100 was exclusive to top players"....this hasn't been true for the last 7-8 years. I'm not entirely sure what "past" you are talking about, but ever since Breach League (and probably even before), leveling services have taken over the level 100 grind. Imagine being upset that players can reach level 100. I really don't understand why people are obsessed that it be something you have to work and bleed in order to achieve. No, I think GGG's idea that level 100 should be a sisyphean task is stupid and there's plenty of other things that take ungodly amounts of grinding, especially when reaching that level is almost necessary for challenges.
Here's a more novel idea: Nerf the game to make zhp builds impossible. How do you do that? Nerf the damage. The reason zhp builds are capable of doing what they do is because they minmax their DPS to make sure they instantly kill everything on screen. Make it so it's impossible to do and suddenly they're at a huge risk of being killed since they can't explode everything in an instant. "But what about timed leagues that make nuclear damage necessary?" You may ask. Nerf that shit too. Timed leagues are toxic to the game's health and forces players to forego defenses and a balanced build to ensure they can complete content before time runs out. GGG should just remove the timers outright instead of using atlas passives as a bandaid. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. Does anyone reaching level 100 influence you in any way? Or doing whatever they want to do for that matter. People seem obsessed with losing their status in a game where no one even cares about them. |

" Im up for any idea that will force me not to die :) . I just see that game in current state encourages me to play "bad builds" because I don't see single reason to make good balanced character. If I wanna kill Uber Exarch Im just going full dps to insta kill him skipping all phases. Why should I fight against him for 5 minutes if I can kill him instantly. Same thing with mapping. Why should I build good balanced hero if I can invest that points in to movement speed and magic find... I got 6 ports I'll be fine. If I die once per map = im fine with that because there is no penalty for that. I'm only punished if I actually make a balanced character. And thanks other people to type your few words here. I know everyone is different and has different expectations. That's why I wrote in the title that it's just my point of view :) |

I am now on journey form 99 to 100 without taking any 5 way ever and it s soooo SLOW that it feels stupid. I can't count how many times died to lag cause I am channeling and half sec = insta death and dude wants to slow it down even more. Why? Cause he dosen't like see other people with lvl 95+....
