Unearth - area or projectile damage?

Currently working on a meme build with Unearth as my primary skill. Does the area of effect that happens when an Unearth projectile hits the ground scale with projectile damage, area damage, or both? Really hard to measure this in game so I'd love it if there was official info on this.

Both. Area effects created on projectile impacts retain their projectile property.
