It probably wouldn't be so bad if the enemy HP/defense scaled in much the same way as Delve, where it's still possible to kill them quickly even if it means risking 1shots.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.
I genuinely don't know how people are getting spawnkilled in TotA, when you have a grace period on respawn. The mode even allows auras to persist through death so there isn't mandatory setup.

Do people just not know to use Flame Dash? Because the only way I see this being an actual problem is if folks are still using the other movement skills for inexplicable reasons.

Can't count how many times I've flame dashed after a revive, and get oneshot from something because there are lots of units in the area, and all of them will oneshot me. So it doesn't take much of a coincidence to get oneshot from whatever the hell happens to be nearby.

Then wait 20-30 seconds again.

It doesn't always happen obviously, but it does happen quite frequently.

TOTA is easily the most frustrating game mechanic I have ever experienced -- in any game.

At mid-to-high rankings anyway. I recall being much more interested in it when starting out, and it's not a coincidence that lots of people wanted it to go core when we first faced the mechanic. It was actually fairly fun when we were allowed to participate in it. Getting oneshot from dust settling on our skin however... not so fun.

In particular, Ikiaho has alot of dot/CC and quite frequently one-shot me.
Same goes with Turtles CC and some caller mob I forgot name of, it's always one-shot with them.
In my case, I chose to walk a bit right as I resurrect, before Flame dashing.
I have 85% evade, 75 spell block, 75 attack block, 75 spell dodge.
I lose quite often to this chieftain and hence avoid it.
