ToTA should go core

ToTA is one of the best leagues you’ve made in a long time. I know some players don’t like it - but I believe it should go core even if it’s not universally loved and this is why:

1. It is fun(my opinion and I know I’m not alone) and unique. Variety of gameplay is PoE’s greatest edge over the competition. Variety is what makes the grind tolerable. It’s what makes build diversity possible. ToTA in particular opens up possibilities to more support and CC oriented builds and this is really cool. It’s also fine with more typical builds if they are strong in either offense or defense(I actually like it more on my normal build and am 1k ranks higher on my main character than my attempt at a CC/dodge/evade character).
2. It’s one of the most optional league mechanics. The silver coins drop and you can choose whether to run them or trade them. You can also choose whether to run them now or run them later (this feels so good). You aren’t forced into them. You don’t lose all value from the mechanic if you choose to ignore it. If your build and strategic ability don’t handle it well, you can just choose not play it.
3. Tattoos are a fantastic addition to the skill tree. They’re best tree customization feature since cluster jewels. It’s really fun how they can act as a minor upgrade - “I got another 15% stun avoidance so I can drop that mod on my gear and equip something stronger instead” or a major one - “I now have permanent onslaught”. They aren’t brain dead at all(because of attribute requirements and other opportunity costs) the way crucible weapon trees were and they add a ton of design space to the skill tree.
4. The new uniques are really cool. I don’t think more needs to be said here.

So yeah - this is a great league mechanic. There’s no doubt in my mind that it belongs in the core game.

100 % agree!
lots of voice actors and they've already revealed that TOTA is already a part of POE2...

don't worry guys 100% its going core.

This league is a beta test for the feature in POE2 they as much as said this in one of the Pax meet ups (heard on Forever Exiled podcast)
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.
100% disagree.

You can bet this league didn't break Crucible's record and falls short by a lot.

Look at the recent twitter post over the years.
Crucible was most popular League ever breaking a mile stone for players online.

Where have those players gone??

They should be looking for them and how to get them back.

This is one of the worst leagues ever and you can tell from the number of Double Corrupted items available. There are other metrics you can use, regardless - less players = less items available.

Sadly, sitting in your hideout and crafting is more profitable than anything else. Making mapping and playing the game less enjoyable and they are not done nerfing map content.

One sad Exile
^lol laughably wrong. Making assumptions based on TWITTER posts?!

How about you use the only metric we have that actually talks about current players...which shows a significantly higher retention AND average monthly player rate for this league when compared to last league. The only number that is higher is the peak players, an essentially meaningless stat when we talk about "popularity".

The current league has some of the best retention and total players EVER in the history of the game. Crucible burned 50% of its players after a single month, and 75% after two months.

I HATE this league, with a passion....but you can't argue with the stats. Unless of course you aren't using stats and just talking out of your _____.

If it all goes core and people enjoy it, more power to you all.

Personally I'm not enthused. Like Sanctum it's great music, great atmosphere and visuals, and a great first few hours (once my build was capable, i.e. not when it's first possible to run it), but the novelty wore off, not my sort of content. I've found tattoos underwhelming, though a neat idea, I think they could safely go core but I won't miss them if they don't. If we have to sacrifice existing content to add it, I'd rather keep what we have. But I'll be playing whatever happens, and I suspect I'm a minority, so... ;)

In concept, yeah its cool.

How tota actually is...

A steaming wet fart in an elevator that lingers.

Balance wise and how it was implented.
If they keep it it needs fixing, honestly sanctum does as well and i'm not sure they have the desire to do so.

Tattoos should stay regardless but they are definitely power creep, but its the best kind of power creep IMO
It (the mechanic not the power creep) would be ok if it would get fixed. But the way it (the mechanic, not the tattoos) is now its IMO a horrible design failure.
You either get to a fixed (2000) max ranking or you have to intentionally lose to be able to play efficiently. And the fastest/best way to lose is to logout. And even for the always-winner at 2000 the recommended behavior is to intentionally lose the last match if the reward isnt good. These (and lots other things) need to be fixed.
The Tattoos arent bad in concept but the power creep and complexity will just increase the inherent problems of the game and thus lead to more invulnerable boss phases and other things I dislike about the game.

IMO this is just an economic necessity that is a consequence of the game allowing it. Supply vs demand. Most players dont like doing this so it ends up more profitable.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
