Global defence question

So I crafted this body :

I have replica soul tether 17% defence quality + melding annoint on amulet for a total of 25% life as extra es.
With 6887 unreserved life that gives me a total of 1721 extra es just from life.

But here's the thing, when I put my body on I only gain 440 total es when 54% of 1721 is 929.
So my question is : Is the es gained from life as extra es not affected by increase global defence the same way it is affecte by % increased es from tree/int?

[Edit]
I managed to understand how this works thanks to someone from HC chat and as Baharoth15 said below.
The details can be found in the pob calculations hovering on the total es :

The game takes 25% of my base life from character level and flat life from gear, the result is a base "life as extra es" value of 455.
Then it applies both life and es increases to it, which is why the 54% increased es from body is applied to 455.
It just sounds weird to me that life and es increases are applied to the same value but at least I'm glad I managed to understand how this works.
Proud craft nonetheless :)

The life as extra ES is counted as flat ES and is increased normally by the global defense mod. The part you are missing is the fact that the armor mod isn't the only source of global increased energy shield you have. Even without the armor you already have 105% increased ES from the tree and other sources.

You also have 244% increased life. Now when you convert life to ES he is actually taking the 25% of your base life which is 1820 without the increased life, turns that into energy shield and then applies both the 244% and the 105% added together to the converted base ES. So even without the 54 armor mod there is already a 349% increased modifier in play that's part of the ES gain you see. The global mod is then just added in there on top turning it into 403% increased which ofc doesn't have as much impact as an increase from 0% to 54% would have.
