Essence of Horror mod for Body Armour

It seems like the Essence mod is not doing anything. For further explanation,

I was testing my damage taken as an elementalist with Bastion of Elements (which grants Primal Aegis to absorb elemental damage). I had crafted body armour with Essence of Horror granting the 15% of physical damage from hits taken as cold damage mod, but physical hits from monsters were not affecting the primal aegis's absorption pool. When I tried other similarly worded effect: Taste of Hate, Crafted version of Gravicius's veiled Prefix, they worked as expected, physical attacks from the same type of monsters were depleting the Primal Aegis.

Since the effects were worded similarly, the only difference I can find is that the mod on the chest piece came from the Essence. I did not have the opportunity to test another body armour with the same mod or to use another Essence of Horror on the item, which would be expensive.

Has anybody had the same issue? Is this a known bug? Just reporting it as this interaction would be good for my build if it worked.

I will recraft the armor in question because with a crafted Gravicius Prefix I can still get some physical taken as, but the essence would be better as it lets me take as cold to go with Purity of Ice & Taste of Hate.

Still nobody else tried this? Am I missing something?

Tried it out, but couldn't replicate the issue.

First screenshot is with nothing equipped, second screenshot is with this armour, freshly crafted with an Essence of Horror.

Oh, thanks for testing that...I don't know what it was, then. Once I can spare another Essence I'll try it again.
