Steam Deck Vulkan Error (3.22.1b)
Hi there!
Since the latest patch, there is a Vulkan error in TOTA causing the game to crash within the first few seconds of starting a trial on Steam Deck. The game loads fine, it works in town and the hideout as normal, and it works fine in the Halls of the Dead. When you start a match, the match will begin as normal, but within the first 5 seconds of the match the game will freeze. After 5 or so seconds a black screen appears with a popup box that says "vk::Queue::Submit::ErrorDeviceLost". I've had this crash happen four times in a row now, have not successfully run a trial since the first crash. I'm hesitant to do much more testing because it's causing me to lose matches, which is lowering my rating. I'm not sure if it's relevant, but the only two skill gems my character is using is ensnaring arrow and void sphere. I have tried lowering the texture quality to medium and changing my SteamOS between stable and beta a couple of times, neither helped. Thanks! Last bumped on Sep 14, 2023, 6:55:21 AM

I have done more testing on this. It appears to be directly linked to the void sphere skill gem. On the Steam Deck (latest stable release), the game crashes due to a Vulkan error when casting the void sphere skill. If you cast the skill when there are no enemies nearby, the game works fine. If you cast it near enemies, the game will immediately freeze for around 10 seconds, then crash to the "vk::Queue::Submit::ErrorDeviceLost" message. The same skill works fine on PC (DirectX 11), the problem is limited to the Vulkan implementation on Steam Deck.
