Damage Taken as non-physical vs Bleed
I'd like to confirm how bleed behaves with respect to "damage taken as".
If a hit has 100% bleed chance, and a 1000 physical damage hit is incoming, and 80% of it is converted to fire damage; then a 200 hit is taken as physical and 800 is taken as fire (and mititgation from armour and resistances apply appropriately). But the bleed? Is it based on the 200 physical damage taken, or the 1000 original hit? Does this behaviour change if 100% of physical damage is taken as something else? Its based on the 1000 original hit
keep in mind there is damage taken from hits, and damage taken however and they aren't the same - so for example lightning coil makes you take 50% of damage from phys hits as lightning, cloak of flame makes you take 40% of physical damage as fire. First doesn't reduce bleed or any phys DoT, second does reduce them. |

Thank you kindly.
Does this extend to armour too? In other words (no damage conversion) it doesn't matter if you stack 2 million armour, the attack that inflicts bleed on you will always do the same amount of bleed. Last edited by TrashCondor#0180 on Aug 31, 2023, 5:11:11 PM

Armor is really wonky sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't all depending on the size of the hit. Generally it doesn't do that much unless the hit is small or you have a very large amount of armor. Physical damage reduction from like endurance charges is much more reliable for defending against physical hits including bleed and damage conversion like helms with 9% phys taken as fire or w/e are also good. That doesn't mean armor is bad it's just not good vs large hits where a large hit is about 3k I guess.

Armor has no effect against damage over time.

if you have 100% physical taken as. then you are immune to bleeding. since bleeding in applied from physical damage.

" just no. https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Damage_taken_as#Ailments_and_damage_over_time also, "100% damage from hit taken as" and "100% damage taken as" are two different thing. If the damage was 100% physical and can inflict bleed, you still having DOT from taken as element if you really have "100% physical taken as", and you still taken 100% physical DOT for "100% damage from hit taken as" This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee.
