I'm never rolling another level 100 character again

I wanted to try the new league TOTA, so I rolled another RF Juggernaut same setup that I have in standard.

I get to level 88, and find myself in the same spot that made me give up my leveling in standard league, at the maps gaining XP then loosing it in a blink of an eye.

The only reason I got to level 100 on standard was because I looted and sold a Replica Farrul's Fur Triumphant Lamellar that gave me enough divines to buy my way into level 100 through 5-way.

Here's some feedback;

This piece of content with loosing BIG, BIG, BIG chunks of XP, and not being able to save it is such bad user experience I compare it to taking every bad part of Diablo 4 and still be more horrible.

The endgame of POE is the worst piece of game I have ever played, and I'm not going to go through with it anymore.

You should not be dying at lvl 88. The struggle starts at 96-97. With how plentiful t16 maps are (or were, when I played last in kalandra), even later.
“We are the race of flesh, We are the race of lovers.”
There has to be a penalty, but it shouldn't just stack in one area. Like 10%->5%->1% until no portal left or so, that way you wouldn't just lose 60% exp in a Maven fight that doesn't go well. It is one of the most annoying things in the game to be lvl 9x,5, having invitations/fragments rdy, but knowing you will lose a big chunk of exp since you use your portals as ressources in boss fights^^

maybe even get rid of the exp loss for pinnacle boss fights and severely cut the loot(what loot? lol) from bosses once the player is starting to die. There are so many better ways to do it than this unforgiving bs that is going on right now...

Amazing feedback Froststride...

I see by all you're fancy forum badges that you are a real die hard player.
You must be a god at this game, I am humbled by your advice and should now make my way to level 96-97 so I can rewrite the forum post at that level.

Since this game is related to our real lives, it should be viewed accordingly. If you are wealthy in game, you are going to be able to use that wealth outside the game as well. If you accomplish something in game it is equal to accomplish something in real life, yes, getting to level 100 in Path of Exile should be rewarded by a parade in your city, paid for by your government.

THE STRUGGLE IS REAL, GIVE ME THE REWARDS I DESERVE.

Riiiight. so make yourself deserve to get to 100? 5ways was nerfed because it wasn't making people deserve level 100. If you die less then you too deserve level 100. How about stop demaning rewards for something you don't deserve?

Put more work into it if you want something. and by work it means you probably don't want to slam your head at too hard content that makes you lose your xp. Try playing it safe, get that level then go for pinnacles/hard maps/ubers/etc when you have nothing to lose. Then when tired of that you start working on the next level :)

OR you could do like the most of us. Decide for yourself that 90-95 is enough. Anything beyond that is just a bonus. Personally I usually stop at 95-96 as I enjoy playing the hardest content instead of grinding blue T14 maps xD.

Entitlement is a bad bad disease and it is hitting arpg players hard these days xD

Just made my RF to lvl 100 in Standard without 5-way... How?
Simply Defences, and playing a bit more "safe" content you know you handle until you lvl up. I think it's very easy to get to 95-98 Normally So I think the game is in a sweet spot there. You should be awarded when you build charasters that can get to 100... It should not be that easy without good defences.
The last lvls not really needed to enjoy the game anyway. But if you struggle before LVL 90 you simply do something wrong with defences or content you play you cant handle.

I disagree. The game is simply not stable and balanced enough to support a penalty in any way.

There are technical factors like server or game performance. You have design factors like odd modifier combinations or effects plainly designed to kill players where you have to be lucky. Or bad visibility of effects. Also even if players die in a way they could have prevented there is no game feedback helping them.

At the end it realy comes down to the argument what the goal of the game and the penalty is.
If PoE is to be seen as a sandbox where you can play like you want than tehre is no room for a penalty and design related deaths wouldnt be a problem.
If PoE is seen as a "dont die" game where you need absolut knowledge to be able to make builds to dont die (what some players seem to like) than tehre is no room for having a sandbox because you will end up with a handful of options anyways.

Iam currently sitting at 98 and trying to get towards 100. I currently get the feeling that on one side the devs would like players to spread out more in terms of skills and playstyle, but on the other side content gets designed without caring or towards the most powerful builds resulting in ohk effects or bad visibility of important things.
In a nutshell iam stuck in a situation where i can either grind the most boring, but safe, content for potentially weeks to progress my character or try out different parts of the game. Both at the same time is not possible and thats a bad game design.

In the end no matter how ppl want to turn it, removing the penalty would have no negative effect on the game. It would just damage some egos along the way, but having more players reaching level 100 and not leaving frustrated because they get stuck wouldnt hurt.

Yep
Know game better then.

Last league I make rf jugg srmi-ssf and naturally hit 100. No 5ways or other cheesy strats included: just maps and delve, because I like it, and know how to not die. Thats all.

Different problem tho - is current megarip and awful stability league/state of the game, which not helping with lags, lack of optimizationt and alot of crashes atm.

Yeah, but theyre working on it.
