The Divine Orb Change was a mistake

I've heard the rationale for making divine orbs the most valuable currency, However I think it was a mistake and was ill thought out. Here's why I think that.

Unlike a divine orb, a slam as far more permanent with the most likely outcome being that you will degrade your item with an undesirable and or low tier roll. Therefore it was actually appropriate for exalted orbs to be used primarily as the Currency for meta crafting rather than as a blind gamble with the odds stacked against you.

Conversely, a divine orb was quite an appropriate currency to repeatedly spam until you achieved the Min Maxing of an otherwise completed item.

In my opinion you have solved a nonexistent problem in relationship to exalted orbs and created a far bigger problem in relationship to divine orbs. Please consider changing it back, This was a mistake and I'm quite certain the player base never asked for this change in the first place.

PS I understand this change has been around for a while now but I've been away from the game for quite some time and wanted to provide my feedback on what I think was a very Badly thought out decision.

And do you think GGG still cares about what players want?

Ruthless. PoE2. Overcomplex league mechanics. Loots nerfed.

Dude, they doesnt even read the forums i bet.
PPS.

As a real world practical example of the repercussions of this change, I would point out that Teams who play this game like it's a job, Literally vendor Lore weaves using the three to 1 recipe, if they don't hit 78 max resistances, Rather than waste divine orbs in rolling the stat up.

If this isn't an in your face example of how the intended functionality of the divine orb has been crippled then I don't know what is.
I thought so too. But a few leagues later I really like the change. The only issue I really have is removing the 6 links selling for a divine. Making Exalts cheap enough to be worth slamming on items has really opened up a new freedom for crafting early in league. Like my Elementalist this league, bought a +1 cold spell, Cold DOT Multi wand. Had an exalt drop, slammed it and hit 40% spell damage. I never would have wasted an exalt on that slam before. Now it's worth it on so many items. Got a good 3 attribute jewel? Slam it. Hit a good 4 mod item, craft and slam it. It makes filling up attributes on mid tier crafting so much easier.

The fact it makes well rolled unique items actually worth something again is also a bonus. Look at brass dome, the price difference for a 2% vs 5% max roll makes that item hold value all league now. Where as before, a few weeks into league, the 5% ones were barely more than a 2% because divining was so cheap.
this ship has sailed, but it's still time to fix the league mechanic to make it entertaining for normal builds and not some bow build/totem taunt weeb league.
