Item pickup macro

Hello,

I would like to know if your third-party policy allows having an external program which reads the screen at the press of a button in order to click on items to pick them up.

Your currently written policy states (important text in bold):
"
Automation of key-strokes (or other inputs) that affect the game in any way must follow our macro rules:

Macros must be invoked manually by the user (automated invocations such as but not limited to: timers, reacting to file changes, or from reading the screen are not allowed).
Each macro invocation must have one set function (it cannot cycle between actions).
The resulting function must only perform one action that interacts with the game (sending a single chat message or command counts as one action).

This wording only forbids reading the screen to automate invocations of the macro, it does not say anything about pressing a key and then having a program read the screen.

Therefore, what is your stance on having a separate executable file, which, at the press of a button, reads the screen and automatically clicks on the closest item? Do you allow it?

(realistically I just wanna avoid straining my wrist by having to very precisely move my mouse to tiny locations on the screen hundreds of times)

Hi Milichip,

We suggest not using any tools that may offer an in game advantage, interact with the game files directly or automate gameplay. The example you have provided would likely breach our Terms of Use.

Is it "would likely breach", or does it breach terms of use for sure? Would it be possible for you to confirm with whoever is in charge of deciding this?

Also, follow-up question in the case where , is there any intention of making this an official feature (with mouse and keyboard)? Controller support exists for the game, and basically has this as a feature already, provided you are close enough to the item drops.

I haven't made this but, I have found someone who has already built this here: [Removed by Support]

There are multiple actions at once:

1. action -> Screen read
2. action -> would be the mouse movement onto the item. (even if the mouse doesn't really move)
3. action -> click the item

So the macro would cycle between actions which is not allowed.
Maybe it would be allowed if it would be 3 button presses you have to perform yourself, once for each action. But wouldn't be simply looting like everyone else be simpler?

This is incorrect. From the official third party policy:
"
The resulting function must only perform one action that interacts with the game (sending a single chat message or command counts as one action).

It refers to GAME ACTIONS, not the amount of inputs provided. For example, writing chat messages constitutes multiple keyboard presses, but is allowed.
The same GAME action would be performed, which is to say, picking up the nearest item. The game provides this feature itself when using a controller, by pressing X while on a controller layout, you will pick up a nearby item.

What I posted was my opinion to the topic.

For my understanding those are 2 game actions. See it like "aiming" and then perform another "action" in this case looting // For me the "aiming" part is a game action itself.
But I also get what you mean.

I'm pretty sure you won't get any more answers from GGGs side. Because that answer that was given to you is the standard answer to every of such requests.

I personally would not use such a thing.

Yeah, but
1) He isn't GGG staff
2) This was 2 years ago, which I believe is before the controller support stuff
