The aim of every single projectile bow skill is off.
This is one of the ancient unaddressed bugs that deserves to be brought to light again.
Simply put, the aim of every single projectile bow skill in the game is off (actually, it's all projectile skills, including spells like Fireball. But it's far more noticeable with the small, unscalable, hitboxes of arrows). The arrow doesn't target the spot you aim at. I suspect the reason is some error in how the 3D environment is handled, and it's very easy to see what's going on in a light environment. It's actually the shadow's trajectory that's correct, while the attack itself moves parallel with it. ![]() Note the position of the mouse, and how the ice shot flies above it by a wide margin. The arrow's shadow, however, is moving straight toward the point you aim at. It's like the pathing is traced "on the ground", and then the actual attack is generated with the same angle, offset by the skill's starting location (by the bow). It guarantees the aim will always be off by the distance between the character's feet and bow. In fact, the only time the aiming is on point is when you shoot at 12 or 6 o'clock, because that's the only time the arrow trajectory and ground/shadow line up. ![]() This issue doesn't matter if you play something like tornado shot or ice shot, where you have 5+ projectiles that chain or fork. But it's essentially game-breaking if you want to play things like ignite or bleed, where you have one slow projectile. You can see this from the fact there are quite a few posts saying that the aim of Snipe is off. Below is an example of why Snipe feels so bad to play right now. ![]() In this scenario, the arrow would straight up miss the target even if you aim right at them. This is a huge issue with slower skills such as Snipe, making them borderline unplayable. Burning arrow and bleed are already struggling as is. Can't they at least get a working aiming system? It's not rocket science, the arrow should hit exactly where you aim. ![]() Last edited by vtspoe#6947 on Aug 7, 2023, 1:57:37 AM Last bumped on Aug 7, 2023, 4:25:50 AM

Doesn't look like a bug, more like they intended to use the mouse to set the angle the character to rotate to to aim and shot the projectile(s). So it is possible that someone moves this thread to the "Feature request" board.
It is possible that they intended this to show that the char only aims at the "general" direction, so having multiple projectiles doesn't look weird, they also play into the general direction, but not directly to the point the mouse points to. > Fixed a bug which allowed the Bestiary craft using The Black Morrigan Recipe to not respect item socket rules.
This company can't get any worse. |
