GGG what are your plans for Poe 1 in the near future?

Interesting... this leaves a vacuum for another great developer to rise from the Ashes of GGG. Like a Phoenix.

If only they could reincarnate the Standard items somehow...

Hm... we could aggregate them with the open stashtabs right, and turn them into NFT's. Free mints if you really own the item (and no other options available like paying for the mint)
Then any other game could adopt these items and with it attract a playerbase that might want to use them in *that* game

No more gaming companies deleting players hard worked-for items because they got greedy.

I'm far more interested to know GGG's plans in the event PoE remains vastly more popular then PoE2 after it's debut and the honeymoon phase has worn off.

I don't think that's likely, though, unless they genuinely put as much effort into PoE1 as PoE2.
Otherwise, I'd expect a split of effort generally similar to now. PoE1 will become a larger version of Standard, maybe with occasional seasons, but if 95% of the dev effort goes into improving and expanding PoE2 then I think a lot of the players will go to where the change is.

Sure, some people will play PoE1, people play Standard now and for that matter people play D2 (or D2R, Path of Diablo, etc). But many or most?

I understand this is a role playing game, but I don't think the best role to play should be shopkeeper. - AlteraxPoe

Yeah Imagine..

deprived PoE players making their own ARPG which blew PoE2 out of the water but also let people have their items from PoE1 via scanning the public api.

I wonder how that'd make GGG feel.

You mean NFT for mass RMT or stealing game assets from PoE to use in different game? Could end in a lawsuit
Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed"

I'm disabled, I have rare case of semperduravera, so I can write things that may look rude, but it is because of disability - I'm forced to tell truth using words you may not like.
when poe2 fails, and none really wants to play it, they cancel poe1 and your forced to play thier diablo5 design.

or related news, who knows yet

I would assume: "Nostalgic"
The same feeling Chris had when he started out to make a better successor to Diablo?

That's a long time and Betas aren't a full game.

After Exilecon many players are concerned or disappointed or even angry about the future of PoE 1.
So it would be a good move to tell us your plans for PoE 1.

I know that this plans could have a big impact on the players for the time until PoE 2 so do this carefully :-)
And I am sure you have thought about this already.

You don't know how long we'll have to wait. How was the previous closed beta? I mean how long between close beta start and release?

Not that it matters much since it's pretty obvious POE1 will die soon after POE2's launch

I think it's likely just as you find it unlikely. Can just take a look at what happened to the StarCraft scene vs StarCraft 2. Old School Runescape vs Runescape 3. It does happen.

As far as what they have shown, PoE and PoE2 are going to feel like completely different games. This may not be what everyone who enjoys PoE right now for what it is going into PoE2 with this own particular direction.

I have no doubts that PoE2 is going to be much larger then PoE when it launches. I'm more referring to when the inevitable dust settles and the honeymoon phase ends, which will happen. Just remains to be seen what the future for both titles will be at that point.

I hate the current state of things and how true this sentiment feels to me. Who would have imagined that ExileCon would have such a negative impact.
Thanks for all the fish!
