Now that PoE2 is a separate game, when will we get the promised gear socket revamp / fix?

" Most likely it was unrelated... They decided to make the item more 'unique' as part of the ongoing unique rebalance. They've been doing that for many... Or it could be because they thought at the time that they could still do PoE 1 and 2 as a single integrated game... Plans change when circumstances require it. " False. PoE2 was originally for overhauling the game, including skills gems and sockets and the like. It GREW into what they are now doing. They more or less realized that they wanted to keep the speed and playstyle of the current game because that's what their playerbase is fully invested in. PoE2 has now TRULY become the slowdown many veterans were hoping for, where we can play without feeling the need to instantly clear the screen and do "maps per minutes" playstyle to feel rewarded. Tho this is PoE so the community will still absolutely break the game but at least its an attempt. It wouldn't actually require "changing the entire game" at all actually. Re-balancing perhaps, which can be done over time, but it's not a stretch at all to take the improvements being made in PoE2 (not to mention backend) and make the game more enjoyable. Technically we can even still keep jewellers and fusings as the only part that would need to change would be applying them to the gems themselves rather than gear. Same with socket colours. They can keep all the chaotic gambling of the 1st while having the ease of socketing from the second. "Right, but why is coloring sockets annoying? Because you have to reroll so many times. Which you have to get currency for. Making it cheaper is making it faster. They could also just offer deterministic crafting options for it. The socket overhaul is not necessary to solve socket coloring, that's not what it's for. It just happens to also make the problem disappear since the assumptions that created it are gone. Furthermore, the Trade Manifesto delenda est. Bone Mommy did nothing wrong. To easily solve the socket issue while leveling just have the following 2 changes:
1. Gear up to 4 sockets will always be fully linked 2. Have the chromatic drop rate increased during the early acts. (no PoE won't die just because people have 20 more chromatics when reaching maps) To ease the 6-link spam just have a option to "roll until it is 5-linked or 6-linked" depending on what you want. Also have a pity system to automatically give you the 6 link after X- tries. To ease the off colour socket issue have a "change X to Y" crafting recipe. It can be somewhat costly but new methods to do it would be great. |

" If they wanted to fix socket starvation in that way they would just need to increase drops for Orb of Binding and add it to vendor. Instant 4 link. They wouldn't just make every item automatically 4 link as not only would that destroy Orb of Binding's entirely but it would likely damage league starts or progression in some way. And while that would also fix ease of access to 5l 6l I very much doubt gambling gear games would want that drastic change. The main point of having the the new socket system alongside the ability to get multiple 6 links is to not only fix socket starvation but allow for the few people that DO want to do more than 1 click builds. There are only a handful of builds that can pull it off right now because of the current gear state. The gems having sockets doesn't automatically grant you links, it just moves the entire attempt at linking items OFF gear and ONTO gems. I said I wanted the sockets on gear to get fixed and the new gem system, as that is an outstanding issue. Not to entirely destroy several types of currency. It's entirely possible to keep the currency crafting while moving links to the gems themselves. Also bumps up the value of the currencies too, as Orbs of Binding are suddenly a free reset in attempting to get a 5l 6l lategame while allowing gear to be swapped at any time. " but were getting that? its called poe2, when you add all these revolutionary systems to poe1 you end up with poe2, and theyre giving us poe2, we can play the game with this new system. if you revolutionise the socket system you then have to revolutionise the skill gems to match it and then you have to revolutionise the item system because so much of it now has mods that effect socketed gems. you will destroy vast amounts of items worth countless mirrors in the process, fundamentally destroy many peoples characters. it will make the game better, but its revolutionising many game systems to do it which completely changes the game and trashes a lot of things people currently have that they put a lot of work into. isnt the entire point of leaving an unpatched version of poe1 separate that they dont add these revolutionary things that will fundamentally change the way the game is played and destroy what people have in poe1? you want this system because it will mean you can play the game in a different and better way, the only reason poe1 is being left as a separate entity is specifically to not make the game play in a different and better way surely? its like when we see posts saying reset standard, delete legacy items from standard league etc. the whole point of standard is that its not reset and people who want things reset and current have the current league. surely people who want this new socket system and all the changes that bring are getting it, and its called poe2 and thats what they should be playing? I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
