New Chieftain, newbie whining question

Hi,

Not gonna lie, I am kinda dissapointed a lot. I am not that much of Path of Exile player as I am on hiatus for a while (2 years or a bit more), before that I did play every other league and did enjoy it, until everything I used to play was literally destroyed.

So I do like Marauder --> Chieftain. I do like that a lot and fire theme, I am using Phoenix MTX Set since it was released. With that I used to play with Righteous Fire, back when Full HP build was 'nice'. I am not that much of 'fast as F clear map' kind of a guy, i enjoy it at my own pace. So after breach league or so they nerfed ascendancy(for me nerf) where I was forced to use Fire dmg conversion so I couldnt use my Cyclone to apply Curse on hit, then HP Scaling RF was nerfed, a lot iirc so I switched to Cyclone with Ngamahu Flame or whatever that axe was called... So mele was nerfed later again and then they kinda changed skill tree again so 'my fav build that i created over years' stopped working alltogether.

And now they killed my chieftain that used to use cyclone. Completly. By that I mean 100% fire conversion (without that amulet/avatar of fire skill), and I am not sure if cyclone is even usable on chieftain, because I saw Strike/Slam skill stuff on new ascendancy

Assuming we have new ascendancy tree

do I have any chance play fire cyclone Chieftain again or should I just cry and use molten strike or slam skill/totem as I am interested in new league mechanic. I don't want to stop using my cyclone but if there is literally 0 syngergy with Chieftain it is not enjoyable, and I do not like other classes/ascendancys at all.

I am fire boi and that fire was stolen couple times from me already :(

There seem like some very good nodes for fire Cyclone there. (hint: 4 points in defense nodes free up a TON of your item affix space for offensive mods). If you don't see a build there wait for someone to make one for you and leech it off of poe.ninja.
NuHinekora, Death's Fury deals overwhelming explosion damage, considering how much you can scale fire damage in this game. Cyclone into a pack, trigger one or two Hinekora, Death's Fury blasts, watch the nuclear fireballs erupt from enemies.

Tasalio, Cleansing Water and Valako, Storm's Embrace take so much pressure off of your gear. All your Fire resistance mods are now effectively doubled in value. A 40% Fire resist mod also adds 20% Cold and Lightning resist; you're getting an entire extra suffix's worth of resistance out of every suffix. That's a whole lot of extra room for power, especially since you can get Max Fire Res to apply to those as well.

Ngamahu, Flame's Advance lets you convert huge swaths of the tree from [Other] damage to fire damage.

Trust me. There's a fire Cyclone build in there somewhere.

feels more like a rf ascendancy now especially with the strict change of the flat fire pen to just no resistance for dot damage.

8l chest might offer some neat stuff for a few melee builds tho. But it's overall sad that they removed the entire ancestor totem part from the ascendancy.

Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Ancestral Call and Fist of War are mutually exclusive. You'll only ever get a 7L out of it, you're just allowed to use strikes as well as slams on Chieftain if you want to.

and you can consider the node before that as a budget spell echo which you have to take if you want to allocate tukohama war's herald (unless you take it over forbidden jewels) So yes you could say it's sort of a 8l chest because you wouldn't run your damage setup in a 2h with this node.

Fair enough I suppose, but then every Ascendancy people use generates some sort of effect that could be considered an extra link, or an extra two or more links, on your main skill. Deadeye gives you a baby Chain/Pierce/LMP as a seventh link (and another one of those as an eighth if you like), Raider's permanent Onslaught/Phasing/enhanced Frenzy generation is analagous to an extra link or three, Inquisitor's elemental resistance-screwing nodes are equivalent to 'free' extra-link Penetration gems...so on and so forth.

Either way, I suppose.

Oh wow, that solves RF having no way to penetrate fire resistant enemies, and blowing them up via ascendancy could free the boot slot for something else. The resistance perks are also going to incredibly free up gear slots.
The more More you have, the less Less matters

yeah but does that fire conversion works with like 2H weapon physical damage and stuff? I dont remember if there are any jewel slots next to those and if that works on %stuff at all like 2h axe in lower left, unless skilltree changed "a lot" again

forgot to mention i would love to use 2h Axe on top of that
