My last wish and hope is for POE and POE II to be separate games!

I think a lot of people are very confused and its not been very clear on how POE will intertwine with POE II but from a fan perspective and a business perspective.. it literally makes NO SENSE to basically DELETE old Path of Exile that we know and love.

People still think POE II is just an addon "expansion". No its not. Its a fully fledged new game that for some reason at the last minute when revealing POE II they decided to say the words "POE original campaign will be left intact".

1st this makes no sense if you are going to change the entire backbone of the game, passive tree, ascendancies, classes. Just for the memories?

2nd it is pretty hard to balance both campaigns to be equal like this.

3rd Imagine if Blizzard did the same.. Hey, Diablo 2 fans, we are creating DIABLO III, trust us, it will be pog! Oh btw, you can still play the old campaign.. but the skills, passive points etc will all be as you see in Diablo 3... basicly deleting Diablo 2 from existance. You want to play original D2? WERE SORRY, you cant.

4th by deleting the CORE of POE by implementing POE2 systems you are going to alianate so many people with this move who loved the fast paced OG POE.

5th and final one, if you now decide to do the "imo right thing" and seperate the games.. you are gonna keep every old player happy and newcomers happy, on top of that you can now create leagues for POE and POE 2.. so instead of waiting 3-4 months between leagues.. you wait just a bit over a month or maybe 2 months until a new league in the other version of the game!!!
Business wise also a great move.

Thats bout it, see you tomorrow via livestream!

PoE2 can be looked at as PoE 4.0. PoE2 is Path of Exile with the option of a new 8 act campaign. The current 10 act campaign will remain an option for a new character. There will be lots of other enhancements to the game like no more socket fusings. The support gems will be socketed within skill gems.
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!
PoE 2 is going to be patch 4.0, just a big patch for the current PoE with a lot of changes, enhancements and a new optional campaign. They don't have any interest to split the existing player community between two games, that's why they continue to patch all the new stuff into the existing PoE rather than making an entire new game out of it.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
The passive tree has been changing since it was created; that’s never meant the need to abandon the campaign so as to preserve one particular experience forever. Path of Exile is an online game in active development. It changes.

Ascendancies are being added, they’re not deleting the old ones (though there will likely be changes of course, but again, that’s normal). Classes will be the same, maybe some new models and animations.
People are only confused if they

A - Don't know how to read

or

B - Believe nonsense they see on Reddit

GGG have been extremely transparent with what PoE2 is going to be, from the moment it was first revealed. It's a new/improved/alternate campaign. Everything else which is "different" about PoE2 is going to be patched into PoE1 along the way.

This.

Part of why they're rolling PoE2 in with PoE1 is for players and supporters to keep their purchases. I believe this was mentioned as far back as when they first announced it.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Changing things like "You dont socket gems into gear anymore" is something a standalone new POE II would have, implementing this to original POE will change it fundamentally.

We will see tomorrow. Many years have passed, last Exilecon they came up with 2 just a day before the show. Imo they didnt have time to think things through enough, 4 years later now.. we will see if they will keep it like they said years ago or what imo makes more sense, seperate the games and make leagues for BOTH games! Much less downtime for GGG fans!!
3-4 months is a long time between leagues, it just makes so much more business sense to seperate these games and still develop stuff for both!

it's not a separate game, not sure how you could watch any of the last exile con videos and come up with anything different.

Exilecon was 4 years ago mate, some companies like Blizzard make an entire Diablo game in that time. There can be a ton of things that were changed and I expect this to be one of them.
