Double XP league, honestly, what would it hurt?
I, like many long term players of POE, have leveled up COUNTLESS characters. The leveling process (especially that first 60-70 lvls) wherein you're often using a 'leveling' build until you can make the transition to the build you ACTUALLY WANT TO PLAY often feels like a real drag. There is just no benefit to not leveling faster, all of the fun is in the endgame; everything before it is stuff we have all done a million times, that has ZERO impact on our characters why make it take longer?
I honestly love this game and have thousands of hours into it but I really can't stand the slow leveling process any more. I know many people can go full sweat mode and get to 70 in a matter of hours but I have honestly found myself SLOWING DOWN in leveling because its just so repetitive. I have started to play POE less and less the last few years, skipping several leagues or only playing for a couple weeks because I can't stand the thought of having to slog through the early parts of leveling OVER AND OVER again. What do we lose by having faster xp rates? Currency drops are trash before maps because of density and nerfs (dating back years). The vast majority of useful unique items that are build enabling are unable to drop until 60+. Effectively every league is designed around adding to the endgame, not act 1 or 3 or any others. It's like we have finished reading a book only for you to add another chapter but FORCE us to reread the ENTIRE book before we can see what's in that final chapter, its so frustrating. Doubling exp during the campaign wouldn't make as much of a difference as you think, because you'd very quickly find yourself 6-8 levels over the monsters you were fighting and start getting less exp and drops.
It definitely would be an interesting idea for a short race event such as infinite delve, where players have the ability to access higher level enemies more readily. |

the way i see it, it's part of the package.
the cost of playing a new league is you start from scratch and need to level new characters. if new leagues gave double XP, what do std players get in return? there is a benefit that comes with a cost. i would agree to an accelerated xp league if all items and characters are voided at the end. but on the flipside, having items voided means i will not touch that temp league. Double xp would speed up the campaign by quite a lot, quite literally would need to kill half as much in order to be on par with the zone level. You can speed run through it, would rarely need to stop to farm xp to catch up; which I have to do every single league because I go through the campaign faster than I level.
As for standard league and voiding this type of league, I honestly wouldn't care, I have never gone on to standard since 2013 (other than to test a few things out). That being said, we would get double xp, not double items. Not to mention the inflation in standard league is already a joke. I doubt standard leagues economy could be any more screwed than it is now. Genuine question, does anyone actually play standard? I have never known anyone that does, aside from a bit of testing here and there. In-game Name: GiveMeFreeShit or LowLifeFarmCharacter

Wouldn't do much in the campaign probably, but would help a bit with levelling during maps.
Although, thinking about it... 95 or even 97 is ok'ish effort-wise, so... I'd rather see a reduced death penalty, quite frankly. Would enable more experimentation with content when not recently dinged. |

" technically with double xp, our penalty is reduced indirectly. then again i dont know if ggg would like this. personally, i would rather have rare monsters have their base damage reduced somewhat based on how many damaging mods they have on them. whenever we talk about xp/death penalty, the real issue we should be tackling is player death to begin with. theres too many ways damage can spike. TLDR:
- You can active double XP by learning the game. - also: PoE 2 will have shorter campaign. _________________________________________ " I think this is real problem, instead of enjoying game you play some "optimized" leveling build. If you find 60-70 a chore then you are not making good use of that leveling build anyway because these levels should fly by. "Leveling builds" are biggest trap that content creators are promoting. If you don't like that 'sweat mode" to level up fast just make build that is slower but make playing early levels more enjoyable for you, instead of people that are selling speedrunign like something normal. " You need to learn how to do it quicker by learning the game. Instead of asking for double xp review what is your game plan and just do build that do not have this part that you do not like. Check for guide that explain how to level up fast in general instead of copying someone "leveling" build. " good news: PoE 2 will have shorter campaign also requiring to complete campaign every league is good game design so it is not going anywhere. "Is there such a thing as an absolute, timeless enemy? There is no such thing, and never has been. And the reason is that our enemies are human beings like us. They can only be our enemies in relative terms."
