Does reducing area increase Storm Call damage?
When using awakened spell cascade, is there a way to make all 5 of the hit the same boss?
Would minimizing the area as much as possible cause all 5 to overlap? Or is maximizing area better? Last bumped on Jul 24, 2023, 8:52:19 AM

I think you want to maximise the area on storm call, since I don't think reducing the AoE will change where Spell Cascade targets.

more aoe effect means more overlap

So one person says lowest AOE possible, and the other says highest :)
Does anybody actually know? It seems that lower AOE makes the center points of the lightning much smaller, so maybe that's what I'm trying for. On the other hand, larger AOE makes the actual lightning ring around those points much larger, possibly reaching further I just want all 5 to hit a large boss, and the best way to do that |

"They both said highest. |

Ah! I read that first one wrong :)
But they are both wrong. I just bought all the gems and tested Occultist with all area and Inquisitor with zero area There's no doubt that the 5 storm calls overlap way better on Inquisitor with zero area and conc effect and intensify gems I guess the only question is, do I want more boss damage with inquisitor and a very narrow spread of attack, or on Occultist it basically covers the entire screen so mapping is hilarious |

Testing selfcast is one thing, but actually fighting strong boss with selfcast is another. You may find that largest aoe results in more dps simply because you don't need pinpoint aim with it, while running and dashing like a headless chicken :)

Sadly they are wrong, if you want maximum overlaps you want minimum area (this makes intensify particularly awesome tbh)
Spell cascade gets further apart as area increases and this is supported by every other overlap scenarios (bladefall/BB for example used level 1 spell cascade because it had the largest area penalty) Realistically its probably better it works this way or area scaling would be ludicrously effective Last edited by Draegnarrr#2823 on Jul 23, 2023, 12:18:44 PM

I mean if the boss never summons other mobs, it is fine, if slower to aim. But I am not going to try uber elder or advanced maven crucible fights with only a tiny aoe skill :kapp:

" Definitely a valid point. I do think that huge area and having 3 of them hit most of the time would probably be more effective overall, and would help with mapping a lot as well. I'm just trying to find out if it's possible to hit with 5, and I can say with testing it is No area on tree, Conc effect and intensify gem with the +1 intensify charge makes it pretty easy to hit with all 5. Now again, that's if the boss cooperates :) |
