I do not like any aspect of Crucible and do not want it to go core in any form
Crucible consists of two parts - there’s the encounter, and then there’s the weapon trees. I don’t think either of these belong in the base game.
I’ll start with the encounter - it is not fun. The charge up mechanic sounds fine as an idea. You risk more and you get higher rewards. The implementation, however, is poorly balanced. Charging takes time away from regular gameplay to just watch a number go up. It’s balanced to be exponentially harder as the bar fills so the vast majority of the difficulty is in a narrow band that is hard to control. If you undercharge it, it’s no more difficult than a strongbox and way less fun. If you overcharge it, you probably lose xp. The mobs basically don’t drop anything so you only reward for the higher risk is faster reveal or leveling of a crucible tree. It is a meaningful reward but I find it extremely unsatisfying. I think a big part of this lack of satisfaction is that the reward is just xp and has no weight to it. Then there’s the trees. These are straight up power creep so I should like them, but I don’t. Trees add an extra (and excessive) layer of steps to weapon crafting. They make Rog (the most fun crafting system in the game) weaker. The interesting nodes that aren’t straight power are rare and change skills in ways that would be more appropriate for support gems or entirely new active skills. If they stay, the game will be balanced around them and Crucible will be mandatory, annoying, content for all weapon crafts. I don’t think any of this should go core and I hope it does not. When it comes to uniques like this which have been surpassed by rares Crucible was a blessing. But with crucible came some really nasty stuff like those exploding totems which destroyed the integrity of the race to create a unique item in crucible among other things. i don't want to see it go because it can empower the underpowered to be relevant again but i'd rather lose all of it than allow those exploding totems to go core or even make it into standard-league Innocence forgives you Last edited by SilentSymphony#3358 on Jul 5, 2023, 4:48:18 PM

" The problem there is that you are thinking it's current iteration, IF it was kept the it would be drastically nerfed (as with every other league they have kept) to the point it would be useless for almost everyone. Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

Should it go core there are two things they could do to "spice" it up:
1) in the crucible encounters, have the items that drop, drop with identified crucible trees (at various stages). Literally, every item that drops from a crucible encounter should already have their tree unlocked and partially filled. They could still keep the drops low, but that alone would make the drops actually worth looking at a bit. The other thing they could do that would make me enjoy it more if it were to be added (which it wont....) is simple: put the level requirement change ON THE MOD. NEVER have a first-space mod that raises the base level requirement of the item, unless you combine passive trees yourself. Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Jul 5, 2023, 5:28:27 PM

" I'd like the tree's to stick around, Just some of the mods have no business existing. and surely they can do some stuff to balance it better, crucible trees could detect how powerful an item already is for example and not allow you to exceed some global limits or apply depreciating gains to them to allow underpowered items to be buffed to a relevant but not overpowered state and already relevant items boosted likely also in their power with depreciating gains but also allowing investment in other areas that your already strong item does not excell at or areas in which your build could use some extra support.
