my guy just mentioned monetization when this game has:

- lootboxes
- qol for sale
- battle pass

and you're going to compare it with a p2p with cosmetics.. come on the year is 2023 and these shitty arguments are just meaningless..

Look at the Path of Exile Shop right now and you'll see many cosmetic armour sets on sale for $29.50 USD. Is that much of a difference from the $28.00 USD sets in the Diablo IV Shop? And not to mention, you don't have to buy *just* points to purchase those cosmetic armour sets in Path of Exile, you can opt for a Supporter Pack, even a $30.00 USD Supporter Pack for the added cosmetics. Besides, Path of Exile is an entirely F2P game, whereas Diablo IV has an initial price tag + F2P monetization + paid expansions.

It's an instant death sentence if you pause on multiple stacked ground effects, especially when under CC. That's my #1 cause of death in Diablo IV

If you stand in a clear bad ground AoE, and you don't have your CC break or dodge available, thats on you. That's likely a bad play, or too risky.

If you died in PoE because you sneezed mid map, or looked down at your dog for a second, that's stupid.

PoE deaths are mostly bullshit, or simply too annoyed to be bothered in SC (like ID'ing all strong boxes or reading all the alter mods completely, or dash into divine shrine)

They also have a battlepass so I'm not sure what he's getting at lol.

It's a F2P game. Expensive supporter packs/gear/lootboxes/passes are cosmetic, the only qol you can get is like $30 for all the tabs you'll ever gonna need.

Are you really comparing this with a $70 game that has mtx for a 3rd of the game's price tag + paid battle passes? My guy...

Don't forget to purchase the D4 expansions. Imagine paying 70-100$ then having to purchase the expansions as they come out as well just seems scummy if you ask me oh well just my opinion. hoho.

Because we totally don't have DECADES of base price games that also charge for expansions.

Like, what?

inb4 you add 'dude bro I totally was talking about the optional mtx'.

To be fair, it's just his opinion.

I suppose this boils down to feel and pacing.

In PoE you kill massive volumes, but the amount of valuable, or interesting, loot is almost nothing. Most everything gets filtered.

In D4 the pacing is slower and the density less, but the drops themselves, and mob interactions, are more meaningful (in general)

This is clearly a matter of preference, both on the player side, but also the flexibility Blizzard has for further development in D4.

PoE would struggle with its players if it were to go back, and reverse this trend, while D4 can increase this slowly over time. Also the visual clarity, and smoothness of combat is so much better in D4, and the danger of stopping movement isn't an instant death sentence.

Again mostly preference, but me personally, the zoom zoom frantic speed meta, where you can't really see what's happening, and if you stop you die, just doesn't feel great when you have to do it all the time.

D4's itemization is the worst. Once you get to 50, until 52 you spend your time farming sacred items till you have your gear and then you are bored senseless till 70 in which case you farm till level 72 till you have your ancient gear. After which point there is no point to playing the game except for getting levels. No more meaning upgrades pretty much since then.

Terrible game.
