Full power Metamorphs

I noticed that nearly all of the challenges that involve specific league content have been changed to not require you to be in red maps this league, which is something I'm very happy about, but it seems like there is one exception to this.

The Metamorph challenge requires you to defeat full-powered Metamorphs in Tane's lab. According to the information I've found, this requires the samples to have an 80-something item level.

But that information is a couple of years old. Can anyone confirm if this is still the case?
