Why Crucible shouldn't go core

Hi.

I'm nowhere near players earning the Mageblood on day 3 of each league.
I'm also not a player for who 10 Divines is unobtainable wealth.

I had a few builds where I invested over 200 Divines, or Exalts back when those were on top.

Back to Crucible
Forge RNG is atrocious.
During the time needed to level two characters to level 98, without using any xp services, just mapping, I managed to forge one item with 4 desired crucible mods in line. I know RNG is an unavoidable part of the game and I accept it. I also know I simply just might have been unlucky.
However, if I was a little more lucky and had made 5 items with trees I wanted I'd still be saying it's extremely unfun RNG.

Five gotcha moments per league? Put that versus the whole world of frustration coming from dozens upon dozens of failed forge merges and you'll end up with a recipe for unfun experience.

On top of that Crucible monsters have no loot.

VS older leagues
Compare that to Sentinel. People had whole 10 items per character made with recombinators. Every map had loot showers.

Compare that to Synthesis. Getting the right input items for the top Synthesiser crafts was difficult or pricy. But it was a slow and steady path of progression. One pair of 35% MS boots after another and finally an Onslaught base.

Outro
I know the league is only a month old. But for many of the players that's enough. For me too. I played intensively for tho months in Sanctum, but I was having fun. Here in the Crucible, after I made my 4 passive shield and burned dozens of wands while trying to work on a weapon I gave up. I also decided against starting a new Omniscience + Headhunter arrow spammer I wanted to try because I do not want to go through the horror of making a crucible tree for the bow.

Today I'm cashing out on my 40/40 and praying I'll see a manifesto saying Crucible isn't going core.

I don't think it'll go core anyway, at least not in the near future.
No recent league has gone core, they're just too swamped with PoE2.

I agree that the forging & combining mechanic is very frustrating, but I really liked the build enabling potential of some of the weapon passives. Had a blast with poison artillery ballista earlier in the league.

crucible takes too long to get anything worthwhile.

i hope it doesnt go core but i also hope the crucible trees i worked so hard for do not get disabled/removed.

I feel it will go core because it already seems like something designed for the core game. It's very time consuming and only really has rewards on the high end. I think the extra dev time this league was making sure it was core ready. It's already so ripe for atlas passives.
R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.
Although the vast majority of trees are garbage, I highly doubt it will go core, cause overall the powercreek is nuts from it. Can end up with a weapon with effectively 11 mods, and keystones and such among them. Just bonkers OP when you win the tree lottery. Which admittedly few do, but still.
It is a badly designed mechanic and they have put almost zero effort into improving it during the league. I would be very surprised if it went core.

The idea of mod-trees on items is interesting though. It just needs to have a better way of choosing the mods and the mods need to be more about trade-offs than pure power.

Its huge power creep and detestably setup.

Basically its got no chance
Look at what happened to Harvest. It barely managed to make it in the game, now as a hollow shell of what it used to be.

What chances does Crucible possibly have of making it core?
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.
Imagine the experience of forging the tree while encountering the Crucible with 8% probability. Yeah, it would get its atlas passive tree support to raise the chance, but still, it sounds awkward.

#notCore
100% core.
