Energy shield regen and constant damage

I know in order to make your energy shield regen, you have to take no damage for a set amount of time. However, if i do take damage, but negated the damage to 0, can I still regen my energy shield normally or is 0 damage still considered "damage"?

For example, my energy shield is at 50%, i stand on top of the burning ground, doing constant burning damage to me. However, i use +max fire resist items, plus a fire pot, to raise my fire resist above 100%, thus negating all burning damage. In this case, will my energy shield regen assuming i can maintain the resist at 100%?

will it work with righteous fire? the burning dmg from righteous fire is consider taking damage?

@13lackJesus If something reduces your current health or energy shield by even a single point, then it is Damage.

Be careful with righteous fire and regen. Even if you regen more life than righteous fire is dealing you're still taking damage. The only way you can get the ES recharge is by getting your fire resist up to 100% to stop the RF burn.
