Is there something like a magic Archer?

Hey everyone!
First of all, if this post/question does not belong here, please remove it or whatsoever.
I'm absolutly and totaly new at this game (in fact, i'm downloading it right now) and i have a few questions. Maybe someone could help me out there a bit. :)
I just watched a gameplay-video of this game and it sounded quite excting, because it seems to be so individual which is like the thing i love most about games - Individuality.
I play Dragons Dogma nearby and there is a class called "Magic Archer", who shoots magic arrows and casts spells aswell and I'm in love with this class.
So my question is:
Is there a possibility to go Magic/Dextergy-Hybrid-Something so I can have Someone running around with a huge Bow, who can also cast (a lot of) spells?
If so, what passive Skills should i have a closer look at?
Please keep in mind that i am totally new in this game! I have nothing, I don't know what is 'good' (in this particular game) and what i really need.
I know myself ending up with putting points into some strength orrientated Passives, because "they sound so nice", but I guess that's kind of rubbish. Besides, what spells/gems are good for a beginner? And could you also give some general tips? I appareantly will not be one of those high-lvl guys, so I'd appreciate a "build" which is more effective in early stages of the game.
So, to keep it short:

Is there something like a magic Archer? If so, what passives should I, as a total New Guy, put points into for the early stages of the game?

Thanks a lot for the help!

Well... Rly want to help u but this will be hard i think :P
Theres no thing like "Magic Archer" u got classes but any1 can be everythin u want
Barbarian(Marauder) with bow using lighting arrow for example (popular build tho).
Cause its not like a Class got his own Skills etc. U got skill gems u can put into ur eq pieces doesnt matter which class u are. Thats why i like this game so much tho :P
Just get used to the game and u will see
Tips for begginer? save all ur orbs at beggining, dont use them till u know the prices cause they can be worth rly much. For example i wasted Exalted(expensive orb) into sh*t item lvl 20 :D. Get some hp nodes, enjoy the game! :)
Good Luck.

This guy is right lol. I also used my 1 exa and 1 gcp on shit items on around level30. Thats bullshit. You wont know how much an Exa and Gcp cost for a newbie.

Well, thanks!
So to ask it in a different way:
Is there a possibility to get to know the formulars of damage calculation?
So in fact, is a Bow only determind to Strength? To Dex? To Int?
Because I'd like to deal Damage with a Bow and I'd like to deal damage with Spells.
That's about it in general..
If u will use bow gem skill u wont cast spells... Only debuffs and auras ^^
As i told u - First get used to the game, Ull see what is all about etc.

Warmest Regards,

I am not sure you can do it that way or not. Since all the spells damage are come from 'spell damage' from your passive skill nodes and wands (you can check wands properties if you dont understand), so even you can use spell when equip-ing your bow, your spell damage will be sucks.

If you like to have range attack while using spell to damage, you can choose to use wands instead of bow. Wands are range attack too just in case you don't know about it.

I would use your bow and then if you want spells, get a spell totem and link a spell with it. It will be harder to build a character around having spells and a bow as a main source of damage. Pick one as your main and supplement with the other.
You can use a bow with bow gems in it (Lightning arrow, Poison Arrow etc) and you can have a second set of weapons

so you could go with a bow as your "primary" and a wand as your "secondary" but your gear wouldnt help too much depending on the properties.

you can also just use a bow and get some totems (spell totem - support gem, and other totems)to deal damage for you as well, and you can use auras and curses.

as for tips, save up orbs like someone above said. dont waste them on shit levelled items, because you will level fast for a while. use magic (blue) items at the start, try not to use plain (white) as you will get 2 extra properties to benefit you. loot any rare items (gold) and uniques (orange/brown) since they can potentially be worth a lot.

depending on how you like to play, grab life nodes and defensive passives, especially resistances. for gear, try to get gear with +life and resistances.

If you want to use a bow and also use spells, then 'spell damage' and 'bow damage' passive skills won't help you with both, only 1.

But, 'projectile damage' and 'elemental damage' ones will help with both.

Hybrid builds are usually weaker but they are hybrid so have some benefits there. probably best to experiment and see what you like.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

This is something, that i really needed to know! :)
thx to all of you, for that replies.
I made a which to come into the game and now startet a shadow, who is absolutly great. he has it: a cool bow with +lighting damage and i got some cool spells around it to make it round. i totally love it. :)
One more general question to the elements:
they are, like, all the same in terms of damage and quantity, right? the chance to get +lighting damage is as high as having +fire damage, correct? so it's just about what i prefer to skill up in the passive trees, am i right?
or is it something like "fire for low lvl and lighting for high lvl" or something like that?
I'm very happy to have such a nice community! Ingame aswell, always is someone answering (my) questions. i barely see that! that fells great, thank you guys :)
