Orb of Regret should give multiple refund points.

Like 3-5, not just one.

As of now the passive respec system is pretty much just a noob tax and nothing more.

Highly experienced players either starts off with a good build and manage to farm enough to just buy full respec, or make an alt and rush through the story in a few hours.

Meanwhile more casual or inexperienced players are stuck in the story for days and once they hit the maps they get met with a wall where at the best the content they can reliably farm is not as valuable as the latter.

Or you know, just delete Orb of Regret from the game and make refund completely free.
I don't know why anyone care enough about the existence of this abomination of a currency that they'd even notice if it was gone.
the sad thing is, regret orbs are plentiful once you reach t14+ maps and run exarch altars. But at that point they're not really valuable unless you do a full character respec.
it would be better if they just didnt exist, with how complex poe is you shouldnt have to pay for your mistakes when it comes to the tree. very un-user friendly for new players and the story doesnt at all give you enough.
No, I disagree with everyone here, if you allowed free refunds, more players will actually quit the game then continue to play on.
See the misconception is, if you allow unlimited skill remapping you will keep players longer but the opposite is actually the case.

A new player who gets stuck because they stuffed their build, goes onto making a new character.

A new player who tries all kinds of combinations and is still stuck - quits.

So essentially you're just shortening the play time for new players.

Doesn't the story give you 20 plus respec points for free? Someone fact check me on this, I've never actually bothered adding them up, but I have never felt like I didn't get an excessive amount of refund points.

More to the point, we're talking about people who are brand new to the game, those guys aren't even going to make it through act 10 before they hit a wall on their first build if they aren't following a guide. So you're talking about people who need at most 10 orbs of regret, which is far less than they'll get just playing the game, and they also have a dozen plus free refunds from quests. I'm genuinely baffled by your claim that the story doesn't give you enough.
I use orb of regrets quite frequently, I also use them to buy orb of unmaking every now and then so they do have a value for me. I don't want them to have "3 uses" or so, I like the fact I can collect some regrets, sell them and earn some extra currency if I want to.

If this was true, PoE would've gotten more & more new players over the years. Which isn't the case, most of the players are just returning players.

Making respec a bit easier, at least during the campaign would actually make it a lot more appealing to a larger audience.
