What is GGG's Market Valuation?
Hello,
I have recently started Path of Exile during the Diablo 4 beta, and I must say, this is the game I've been searching for for such a long time, one of the best ever made. I applaud GGG for their work, but I have a big issue with time-limited exclusive content that then becomes permanently unavailable despite the files still taking up space on my drive. It doesn't reward old players, it just penalizes any player that picks up the game at a later time, eroding their experience by giving them a less intact version of the game's content. My issue is with accessibility and items becoming permanently unavailable. I think there are other ways to allow these items to return while still providing value for those who took part in the original purchase. Heck, you can even put them behind a premium and have them cost something ridiculous like 10x the original price, it's still better than removing content permanently. I would whale the living s**t outta this game, problem is I turned up too late to the party and GGG won't take my money anymore. The cool, simplistic designs that I would gladly enjoy have been removed while I'm left to deal with a selection of bulky, over the top, fantasy, elemental mumbo-jumbo. This is the main reason why I will instead commit to a completely inferior product, Diablo 4, simply because I'll be there from its start and can get an intact experience. If ever am to take this game seriously, I have no choice but to make it my life's ambition to buy out GGG, permaban a certain player for suggesting this time-limited exclusive trend back in 2013 and fire anyone who assisted in its implementation. I would then explore ways of allowing old content to return without upsetting the "muh exclusivity" crowd: Potentially making these items only available for purchase during a brief, one-week time window each year, on PoE's anniversary. Perhaps even make them cost 10x the price to maintain their exclusive status. I wouldn't even mind if they only available to top 100 HC SSF Ruthless players. Any sliver of hope is better than the damning certainty of permanent unavailablity... Once again, you are not rewarding old players, just penalizing any new ones that pick up your game. The only "time-limited exclusive content" is old supporter packs - MTX. Nothing to do with the actual gameplay.
It certainly does not take up space on your hard drive. Start saving now, it might take you a few thousand years to buy out Tencent.... 😹😹😹😹😹

I know they were sold to Tencent for "more than $100m" (I believe this was an 80% stake.)
I am asking for an update to this valuation. I don't need to buy Tencent, just their stake in GGG. Last edited by Aeliasson#2233 on Apr 16, 2023, 7:06:55 PM

" If you want to influence this game, you need to be an influencer. A whale only buys once. An influencer is a steady source of income. But if you don't have the resources to do even that I somehow doubt you've the means to...lol...buy GGG shares at this juncture. But hey, good luck to you. Yours is a noble endeavour. FOMO as a marketing strategy is insidious and predatory. Oh, and the answer to your actual question re: GGG's market valuation, is public record. Stop being so lazy and go research it for yourself. Spoiler: it's still over $100m US. Man, this is actually quite exciting. An Exile trying to buy GGG back from Tencent. It's like we've got our own little Musk. What a crusader. Woohoo! If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between. I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. Last edited by Foreverhappychan#4626 on Apr 16, 2023, 11:14:49 PM

Chris calls it "keep it fresh" ... On the other side everyone else calls them nerfs...
Integrity of items is fine, the fact that they do literally nothing to buff other items to make other builds viable is not fine...So they resume to nerf things, hm hmmm hmmmm , make them on pair...I am sorry sometimes I do not make the difference between nerfs and making everything on the same pair level. Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.

Well this was an interesting read.
Exclusivity drives revenue, and a man of your "means" should understand this. It's why many whales, whale, if you are even a whale. Most whales don't say shit like "ima whale the shit outta this game" (and it's all cosmetics anyways) Sorry you were late to the PoE party, but that's how it goes sometimes. Hell I'd recommend new players don't pick it up anyways, so maybe it's for the best. *also that D4 jab at the end, lol. " It's truly the jab du jour. I keep seeing it as a sort of 'SO THERE!' at the end of critical posts. It's not really a weird flex so much as a wet noodle flourish. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" Idk, every time I read a sentiment like this here, on reddit, or in game chat I feel pretty rewarded for getting things like my 2013 Thanksgiving exclusive Pilgrim Hat. On a more serious note though, I will make you a one-of-a-kind NFT if you want to give me some money. |
