Denied a refund for this league supporter pack

Nowadays after a big patch I wait to see how things turn out before I determine if I should thrown down on a new pack or Kirac's pass. It can be something in the new league, something I can enjoy in standard, or something else that simply translates into having fun with the game.

I bricked my bow with this unfavorable RNG mechanic so my league journey came to an abrupt end. It was such a shitty feeling that this unpleasantry curbs any enthusiasm for support for this particular league.

The recommendation is to wait and see if you're having fun before purchasing an office pizza :)

We can add this nonsense to the list of gripes, I reckon…

But that link just goes to ... Oh ... Oh you.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

I of course feel sorry for your "loss" OP but by this time you should know better than buying early supporter packs...

Do it when the league is released and then wait for some time to see how it plays and how well it is supported based on feedback, fixed etc...

You are not the first one with this problem paying in advance and then being sorry, start learning guys :)

Hi OP, why not keep the supporter pack and play next league?

Why do you have to play this league???

nope, that's 100% correct for their refund policy.

And if you do a chargeback, your account will be banned so don't do that.....

However I would look into your contry's consumer protection laws in regards to online "shopping" or check the NZ consumer protection agency......

I am completely in awe of their refund policy.

I wont file for a chargeback as I love this game quite a lot, and my only grievance is with this abomination of a league, which is the precise reason why I wanted to withdraw my support in the first place.

I did however look into NZ consumer laws, and I've actually got half a mind to actually file for a dispute at their dispute tribunal, purely because of how infuriating this is. Especially since I've read the entire terms of service and there is no mention of this policy or anything remotely related to it anywhere.

Either way, thanks for the tip!

Live and learn. Years ago, I did the same as you. I bought league supporter packs before league start when the marketing/hype was appealing. Then the day came when the League was terrible, didn't live up to the marketing/hype, and I didn't play at all. Literally. Didn't load up the game or login for 3 months. Lesson learned. From then on and to this day, I only purchase league supporter packs before league end if I find a league enjoyable.

And if you look at my badges at the right, you can see that I haven't really liked any new leagues in a long time.
Buy supporter packs after the league you enjoyed, not before.
Still a valid way to say thanks to the devs and it works for me.

I think you kinda missed the point, it's not about playing the league, I just feel scammed supporting their work and then realising that they put in zero effort into the league. Like, the weapon trees are obviously alpha testing for poe 2, the crucible encounters are not only completely bland with no actual mechanic behind them (compare to the "pick your poison - get rewarded in turn - don't overdo it" ultimatum), but are also a chore more than a challenge and drop 0 loot for your effort and it's pure RNG whether or not you're gonna have a breeze encounter or are you gonna run into an unkillable rare and just skip it.

The new area can literally be made in 1 hour, even kalandra had more time and thought put into it, and I had a fight with 4 "bosses" at the same time, killed them and had 2 items visible through the filter, and only because I made rare daggers and claws show. It's like they know that the content is shit, so they incentivize you to skip it.

Don't get me wrong, the game is as enjoyable as ever, whatever that means nowadays, but it feels like standard on a public beta testing realm. It actually made me play heist, just because it is so detached from the league it's like a different game.

Oh, and I get that putting a good tree on a good unique should be expensive and hard to do. But putting a godlike tree on a godlike rare is often cheaper than putting an average tree on an average unique (provided that you have the one godlike rare). Not that this particular gripe is something that warrants a refund, it's just stupid as hell.

Regarding not supporting the league at the start, I once again agree with everyone, prepurchasing anything is a dumb move nowadays, but from my perspective, the last league I really had enough time to commit to was sentinel, and I had a ton of fun with it, made some completely bonkers items worth multiple mirrors in standard (which I don't play tho). Before that was ultimatum which was amazing as well, and now it turned out that due to some health issues I will have to stay indoors for a couple of weeks so I wanted to make the best of a shitty situation. And I truly believed that even if the league isn't up to my taste (think heist, expedition, kalandra), it would be a complete, fully fleshed out product, as I came to expect from GGG.

Still, doesn't change the fact that preordering is just a dumb move no matter how you look at it. I got baited by the reveal, and was just happy that I'm at the point of my life where I can just drop some money on a game I enjoy, so wanted to treat both myself and GGG at league start. Again, I'm not saying that was smart, and I'm not saying that GGG has the obligation to refund me, I'm just giving you my perspective, and to be honest, if I was GGG, I would not think twice before fulfilling refunds such as this one.

Also, I'm not saying heist/expedition/kalandra were bad (though kalandra was ass tbh), just saying they weren't up my alley, and I didn't have the time or desire to commit to them. I really wanted to play sanctum, but simply had too much stuff to take care of irl.
The ruling on this situation is kinda nonsense.

Technically OP followed the guidelines. You can have 2 clients on any one platform running at the same time but they must use different "inputs". This should be changed.

Makes me miss the old days of online gaming when an actual GM would ghost you for a while before making any decisions. I was such a GM for EverQuest and Ultima Online. Most the time it's glorified tech support but you also got to take part in REAL events in which you changed into monsters and interacted with players. That made it easily worthwhile. A DM's dream.
