so why does GGG and Chris Wilson hate melee characters so much

Melee characters are like the bastard of this game. they are weak compared to every other class and any skill that is good for them seems to get obliterated by the nerf bat.

so what gives?

Even the weird uneven interval between melee attacks reaaaaaally sucks. I don't know why jijiji loves it.

I really try my best to love jijiji but this one? I hate them for it. T.T
Last league was my first league ever that i didnt play melee. Made 5 toons (100, 99, 99, 99, 99). None of them melee.

Im skipping this league. Im a melee guy. POE isn't for me right now.
It finally made sense when I saw the video "The History of Speedrunning Diablo 2's Slowest Class." on YouTube, where it shown that a large part of running Barbarian actually required hitting enemies individually and even in that game it was obvious it wasn't made for that kind of combat. Making melee viable and effective has always meant distancing itself from what D2's melee was like, which often ended up resulting in a lot of fans complaining and convincing GGG that those skills should be nerfed and GGG trying to preserve some kind of resemblance of what they probably consider a very nostalgic aspect of D2. It's why I keep saying that they follow a self-defeating prophecy where a single only melee skill is good (it used to be Molten SHell or Sunder, now it's Boneshatter) -> people complain because "it's ranged" memes -> skills get nerfed and the rest of melee is still bad.

Of course they could just keep the gameplay intact and just boost numbers which would make the disadvantages of playing melee turn into more of a trade off if the damage is worth it, but GGG would never do that due to how incredibly difficult it is to craft melee weapons which makes for better economy (typically you can usually expect GGG to favor changes from an economy standpoint over what makes the game actually better).

Melee is worse in every single way possible.
it's not all abput melee being bad, it's casters being too easy to play cause ggg removed all their downsides
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
i have spent the morning just trying to get past the first 2 acts just trying to have fun i have been playing shitee builds i admit, but i have never had this issue before nothing dies im lvl 4 and im fighting this 1 blue pack for 5 and a half minute i dont understand it. something is fucky with monster hp nothing dies. i know they wanted to slow down the pace of the game but im lvl 4 spending more time on a blue mob and not even to mention a rare with a leech modifier and i cant gather enough damage or protection from my white/blue gear to even get it down to 95% , i spend all my potions all my cooldowns and the mob have 90% hp left wtf happend it cant be the onslaught removal everything feels like im trying to kill a lion with a wet papper towel. im about to reroll again there are no powerspikes anywhere its only you suck everything stuns and you suck fun is not allowed spend 40 minutes here and suffer... not even p2w arpgs disrecpects me like this. nothing is fun heavy strike might aswell be renamed wet slap cant even kill white mobs. i do hope im the only one in this situation its been a weird league start.

edit : i should mention i have played the game before i love poe. but ive been trying to "gauge" the new early game with the classes thats why i have been rerolling, and nothing feels "good" it feels like grabbing your lvl 12 skill does nothing for you at all, the only diffrence is that you get is a new graphic for what you will spam 8 times to kill a white skelly instead of the skill you got at 4, and the low lvl crucible's feel awful "did i charge it to much?" "why did that random white skeleton just hit me with an arrow for twice my ehp?" the scaling is weird. i do like the league mechanic but it feels terrible to play unless i go for whatever brand of meta build ... should i really need a spreadsheat and to optimize my blue gear to even play lvl 1-20 this league?. brutus feels like a whie crab compared to anything blue i fought on the ledge.

i think melee are in a far better spot compare the Forsaken Masters era

still melee have a very limited choice of gear vs caster

you have lot of caster gear sadly you dont find the equivalent or the melee version of it

also bloodmagic seem still feel very limited for aura and other option


i hope GGG expand on the rage mechanics and add synergie or just buff bloodmagic

If you ain't boneshattter you ain't shit. They hate melee and want to force you to spend hours in a campaign no one wants to play. I got to level 14 and that was enough for me this league. I cannot for the life of me understand GGG decision making.

As soon as I saw the new enemy lightning orb attacks that will pulse out damage, overlap and shotgun, and change position in *act 1* I admit I laughed more then I should have thinking about all you melee plebs.
