She isn't the flashiest loudest standout. She just blended seamlessly into the shadows so that's how you didn't notice she was above average in terms of popularity according to poe.ninja. This means there are still a significant number of players who found a way to use the class.

A lot of players like to experiment with Scion, I mean you unlock her so imagine a new player who unlocks Scion for the first time, you gonna wanna try her out because she looks cool.

She is a good class for experimenting and getting access to many parts of the tree. Plus its a fairly attractive female model, both the witch and Ranger look ugly in comparison so appeal adds in as well.

Besides popularity is not a scale for power, because some templar ascendancies and Chieftan are both not popular classes yet they are pretty strong for a lot more builds than Scion/Ascendant will ever be viable for.
She needs a skin like the marauder but instead of muscles her breasts shall grow with stacking.

Yes, this would help like a lot XD
I have played witch, pathfinder, and scion primaries, and for my current style I have settled on scion.

I find the class to be fairly well designed and balanced. It makes some things possible that aren't possible (to the same extent) with other classes, and has inbuilt drawbacks (weaker ascendancy skills) to make up for its unique hybridization capabilities.

IMO, the class is in a pretty good place, balance-wise. If anything, it could use a little boost to its ascendancy skills, but that isn't necessary to keep it competitive.

I don't think so to any degree. Its ability to combine playstyles isn't being really forfulled beyond small fanfare. An example would be a fireball build. Usually as a witch you would need GMP to get a lot of projectiles but the Sion can go deadeye to get those projectiles. But you then loose out on more than half the spell and elemental damage the Elementalist provides and you need to path to where they are spending skill points on elemental damage to balance things out and currency to make the difference. Its not worth 1 gem slot of freedom in this case because you less specialized damage going towards it. And you will still need to find a way to get more projectiles to make up for GMP anyway.

Not to mention its the only class that doesn't get notables in the first 10 points so it is lacking in power and it only really regains that power with a lot of investment which makes it rather unfriendly on a general use basis.

I think the Ascendancies need more than a small buff. The class has an advantageous starting position and can abuse gem slots well but since gems for the most part are pure RNG and they start far away from Cluster jewels they miss out on a lot of power that other classes don't. So its far from reasonably balanced, in fact it feels underwhelming.

Not to mention you need to do Lab twice to get a basic half ascendancy, where as other classes get their first ascended notable at the first lab which can be game changing for some classes in terms of performance.
Okay, truthfully she indeed looks like an inferior class for any build. The only instance where I found her to be competitive is something like self-cast Creeping Frost with Anathema + Vixen's Entrapment curse stacking, whereby her one additional projectile and tailwind helps. There is also reflect immunity and minimum shock from that elementalist ascendant node. Hierophant and Elementalist were the closest competitors but I chose Ascendant for that little quality of life from tailwind. I never played attribute-stacking builds but I can immediately notice the Ascendant has less issues with attributes. There is a jewel called Pure Talent which grants lots of attributes for her too.

Yes that is one of their strengths early on, but the issue I have with this is usually there are very few builds that rely on raw attributes late game except for general gem level and even then you gain quite a bit of stats per level. For leveling its fantastic. In fact it somehow makes the Scion beginner friendly, you have the biggest life, evasion and energy shield nodes near you, 3 jewel slots and have your attribute requirements sorted from the first lab onwards.

But the problem is your ascendancy is supposed to be like your lynchpin that ties your build together not the thing that makes it easier for you to level. So I feel like those attributes are wasted on the ascendency tree.
pffft
