Boss Race being Ruthless is really, really dumb
I'm not a racer, but I do follow and watch all the boss kill and Gauntlet races.
There is a 0% chance that I could be bothered to watch the most boring AF race ever conceived. Please reconsider this really dumb idea before the league starts. Last bumped on Apr 2, 2023, 11:34:20 AM

I don't have a single good thing to say about any of it, That makes me sad.

Although this feedback is a bit harsh, I have to agree.

While I think this is a bad decision and will discourage a lot of the usual racing crowd from participating - I can see why they did it.
No matter how many difficult bosses they introduce, some folks are so good and knowledgeable at PoE that they trivialize them no matter what. The only way to shake that up is by forcefully slowing down the pace of progression, ie Ruthless Uber bosses without movement skills though.. I shudder at the thought. Seems like pure masochism |

The only issue I take with the event is players who wish to participate in the race event are coerced into ruthless and away from the game modes they'd rather be playing for an extended time. This event is going to take a long time to complete.
Now, maybe the proper way to look at it is this is an event for ruthless players. Don't want to play ruthless? This event is not for you--even if you're a 'racer'. Non-ruthless enjoyers need not apply. Sorry Ziz, but not everything is about you. This game isn't developed for your sole satisfaction and you already have your own gauntlet events promoted by GGG. As for people who find ruthless boring to watch; don't watch it. Again, this isn't for you. Stick to your group of 'content creators' and what they're doing. We've had streamers in the past create their own league-start races with self-imposed restrictions... Nothing is stopping them from doing this again. At the end of the day, GGG knows what amount of engagement they get with ruthless. And they still designed this race around it. Ultimately the 100m sprinters are upset the next race is a marathon. Fortunately the event coincides with the launch of a brand new league and so there's plenty of fun for everyone to have. |

" Ben already did that as a bounty in a recent gauntlet. No, the hard part won't be the bosses, it'll be sourcing all the maps and stuff needed to fight those bosses. Hence I agree completely with OP that this is a dumb race. |

I have to agree. Making the boss race extra challenging is all well and good, the problem is that doing it in Ruthless just makes it take 10-20 times longer, which means nobody is going to watch. And if nobody is watching, a lot of the best players are simply going to skip it because they're streamers with an audience.
A real possibility exists where NOBODY wins this boss race, because none of the people capable of doing it bother trying. |

" There is a prize involved. Consider this a private league. This is more of a marathon than an actual race. The world doesn't revolve around you finding joy from it. This is more of a challenge from the developers. They want to know how hard to make the game possibly in the 2nd version of poe so the race isnt over in 3 days. |

get ready for exilcon to be 50% about the success of ruthless, and it inspires changes to the "regular" gamemode.
I hate how Chris already said that ruthless informed them about ascendancy changes... Side project seems to have been the main project all along. And they have one guy making the trade website work with weapon passives, and he gets the api the day before the league start. OK. Good luck one guy. Ruthless as a game mode is almost universally hated among poe players. |

" Yeah, there is hard and there is tediuous, Ruthless just makes everything take ten times more time. It's not hard it's mostly tedious. That is the reason a lot of racers will skip it. Making the event hard, no one would have complained, making it tedious is like op said, just DUMB |
