New weapon tree mechanic with Dancing Dervish and Arakali's fang?
I hope we're not getting attack or physical skill trees with the weapons that are used for their special properties and skills they give and not the affixes that come with the item base.

" Pretty curious how all that works too, will uniques get these trees? Innocence forgives you Last edited by SilentSymphony#3358 on Mar 30, 2023, 6:43:44 PM

" If they didn't include different trees for these weapons... its gonna suck. |

" Well we can at least see from the reveal that the specific weapon type can play into what mods the item gets. ![]() So not just the weapon type but its deep enough to include the item bases for example the convoking wand clearly shows minion related nodes having a priority. Wither or not it will do anything for the i have serious doubts because its base is an Engraved Wand. So im hoping as well one of my core uniques is not defaulted to some other stats entirely unrelated and unusable by the build the unique is for. Innocence forgives you

I'm gonna assume bex did you a solid with the reveal teaser of dancing dervish and that they speculated this question would be ask, pretty nice of them

" Krillson has confirmed that uniques can get these trees in either of two ways: 1 - The map-versions of the crucible mechanic will allow you to add trees to unique items 2 - Chancing an item into a unique will keep its skill tree Now, it's highly unlikely that Dervish will be able to roll minion modifiers, since the mod pools are almost certainly based on the item class (i.e., 2-handed sword) but that doesn't mean you can't get more base damage or attack speed on the Dervish itself. " If its true then its really dumb league mechanic design for skills to be chosen just based on the item type itself. When the whole point of unique weapons is that... they are unique and they don't necessarily fit their playstyles based on the type of weapon. |

" It's a hell of a lot better than the alternative, though. Can you imagine going through the trouble of getting the tree unlocked on a starforge, only to have all of the nodes be bow and caster related? Or for dual wielding? You can't remove an entire tree to try again, so that's now a bricked weapon. And that's a case where you CAN try again by throwing money at it... for top end rares it's a single long shot and you're done, you lose. Pooling mods by weapon type is literally the only option that makes any sense. There are like 4 uniques in the entire game where that doesn't work and it's not unreasonable to ask players to have a brain. |
