Diablo 4 may end up to be a cashgrab, but watch any stream : its gameplay is actually fun

D4 looked incredibly boring

The Barb gameplay looked slow and a slugfest

The Sorc gameplay was just people spamming hydra and lightning

Nothing about D4 looked fun

If you like that kind of gameplay, go play it

There are tons of games where you can sit and hit tanky targets for long periods of time while dealing no dmg

POE isn't that and hopefully never will be

Disappointment cause they contentiously add new content within a timed cycle?
That's more or less something every arpg should do rather than slowing down the patch cycle in time.
But I guess not everyone is into more complex gameplay, crafting ect, but the same goes for people who are not really interested in over simplified and watered down games.
So it's a good thing that we have different types of games all across the arpg genre to cater the needs for their audience, and not just a copy of one product "sold" under a different title.

but what did they add really? in a word - more complex ways to craft gear. the core gameplay loop has not improved or diversified in years. it's always been and will always remain:

right-click -> room explodes -> collect currency -> hit quicksilver flask onto the next room -> right-click -> room explodes, etc

and when it comes to all the features they did add, many a time, less is more in terms of complexity - especially at the level they are introducing new mechanics. I come back year after year and I am completely overwhelmed with the complexity of it all. Complexity whose sole purpose is to blow up that same room even faster. It's just bloat, not enjoyable gameplay.
Just finished the Beta of D4 and have to say campaign wise; it absolutely destroys PoE its not even close.

Graphic wise there is no comparison.
Gameplay wise - the speed so far; just feels right, as mentioned above you actually see what you are fighting against.

Regarding complexity and itemization; it's hard to tell where D4 comes; in my opinion PoE has by far deeper itemization; PoE just unfortunately makes the itemization due to orbs just cancer.

It seems fun for the first time, but after years - you wish you could just get rid of all chaos,alt,trans,devine,exalted,etc.etc. orbs and shards and just use 1 currency.

So far - I am positively surprised of D4; will it "kill" poe? I don't think you can compared those 2 games.

For me personally - it's way more enjoyable at the moment than poe

ggg tried to make rare monsters more distinctive and harder to engage.

it slowed down gameplay and made fights more meaningful, especially if you couldn't avoid archnemesis rares which were too strong for you for whatever weird reasons.

didn't turn out well as we all learned. players nowadays just can't ... it seems

You can't just throw in Archnemesis and fix things. AN was awful experience.

This game is fast paced by design. You need to play at reasonable rate to be able to progress in timely fashion otherwise it's just slog fest.

Sure, slow the game down significantly i wouldn't mind, but then also deflate currency requirement to craft gear and increase drop rate of items for example.

I don't like how D4 is dumbed down but i have to be honest, gameplay looks more interesting than blowing up screen after screen.
One of the reasons that i in a weird way enjoy leveling thru PoE campaign with a fresh char after all this time.

ps
for those that complain how PoE acts are trash and easy, they aren't. You've just did it million times.
I've seen many D4 streams and there's no instagibs or being bashed in 1s. Like for example you will be bonked to death in Mud Flats by rhoas. Also play melee and it will get engaging.

PoE 1 is just old and it's in very good state all considered.
PoE 2 will fix things in a good way and I can't wait for it to land finally.

Speed in a video game isn't a real thing. It's entirely based on perspective by comparison.

What actually matters is how you engage and react to enemies. This is where the comparison part comes into play. PoE has between 25% and 150% movement speed. Frankly this is stupid.

With such a large gap, it makes enemies impossible to design in a fair manner. Thus everyone has abandoned slow and sturdy, even GGG. Progression is now measure in map completion with a total loss in the use of terrain interactions. The entire point of the map system was to diversify end-game and here people are spamming maps like Strand because they refused to take a hint in 3.15.

Well, you have your belligerent speed and a boring meter to fill to do anything of interest.
PoE was not originally a "fast" game and it was better for it.

Nothing looked fun in those streams. Most of the streamers looked miserable while playing it too.

+1
why not play it yourself ?

the most effective way to play a barb in the beta is thorns

combat is way clunkier than in d3, since things are slowed down and there is also weird queueing up of skills

bosses have a lot of CCs and some classes have very few CC breakers

mobility skills - necro is coming out this weekend and necro has zero mobility skills. sorc has a 10s cooldown teleport that can be reduced significantly

in a game that has long passages without any mobs and is as range-friendly as they get

if I want button mashing combat, Ill play d3 (I wont, but nonetheless)
If I want to play an arpg, Ill play poe or last epoch

not even sure Ill buy d4 at this point. scaling removes a lot of fun from arpgs.
