Damage types and mitigation question

Hello all,

at the moment I am levelling an Elementalist with
Primal Aegis (takes elemental damage before life/ES )
Hrimsorrow (100% of physical converted to cold which is at 75%)
Solaris Lorica (Chaos damage does not bypass ES) my chaos res is low atm

My question is: shouldn't all damage except for chaos be taken first by the Primal Aegis which is 2k?

Do I still need to invest in Armour or is ES enough?
What about Spell- and Attack damage?

I have just started mapping with this char and I am not as tanky as I thought I would be.

Hrimsorrow converts your phys dmg to cold and aegis blocks monster damage.

Better go for armour. Without it your ES will go to zero in one sec. ES is not a defense. I't s additional lifepool.

I recommend reading the Receiving Damage wiki. It's one of the most useful wiki pages for understanding defense as well as offense to limited degree, and most players I talk to don't know it exists.

Hrimsorrow doesn't convert incoming damage you receive. It converts your own damage that you deal to monsters.

yeah. point out meta build that use ES as the effective mana pool.....

8% using EB is not really that meta.....it is really off meta in this league in HC.....which no one really care defensive layer in SC


Back to the question. Just try harder on learning "damage conversion" such as from Hrimsorrow and the real "damage taken as " items.....
