increased Damage while Leeching what's the catch?

Carnage Heart can give you up to 40% and leech, and you only need lvl 20, so even without any leeching passive skills you can get 40% increased damage?.. It just looks too good..

At L20, it IS really good.
40% increased damage but it is additive to other increased damage mod so that it may be not that much actual increase in damage

With skill that removes mana and you use health instead would it always work?

Or just simply read the mod on your weapon and skill tree to see are there any word "increased damage"

Sorry for bothering with dumb questions, I just want to be sure

So, I deal damage of 100 for example;

With passive skill that increase damage by 10% I will deal 110;

With that skill of life leech that increase damage by 40% while leeching, I will deal 114?.. (40% adding only to bonus damage from passive skills?)

You deal 100 damage. If you have no other sources of increased damage (weapon is fine because that is local increased, not global), 40% increased means you deal 140.

But most mid-end game characters commonly have a few hundred percent increased damage from their tree and such. So if you have say 400% increased damage total, your 100 becomes 500. But if you add the amulet in that case, your 500 goes to 540 (because the 40% gets added to the 400% for a total of 440%).

In that scenario, the 40% increased is giving you less than 10% additional damage. The more increased you already have, the worse this gets.
