xbox controller not showing up on pc, please help

xbox controller not showing up on pc
I have seen people using the xbox controller, it seems to work for everyone. i even watched youtube tutorials but in the videos it’s showing up and you can just click it but on my end it says no controller detected…
maybe it’s because i didn’t launch the game thru steam?
the controller is connected thru bluetooth on my pc and i’ve tested it on netflix (with chrome plugin) and it worked, i tried using cable and i couldn’t get anywhere with that. i tried disconnecting from the pc (bluetooth) and trying to pair it straight to the game, that didn’t work either but that was the expected outcome at least ahaha.
i am not able to play with a keyboard unfortunately so i really need to get the controller working if i wanna play on pc… i really hope i can get help to make this work because i’ve spent hours already trying to fix it, ughhh.

i am desperately trying to make it work, i’ve spent so many hours on such a little thing that i’m going insane.

i’m now trying to use steam as a client… i think i will have success this way

it works on steam but not once i open PoE. i’m about to smash my laptop…
