Any budget Sanctum Runner Builds?
|
Looks like the chunk of challenges left for me is the Sanctum. I've had a hell of a time. Maybe only made it to floor 3.
Found Captain Lance's Icicle Mine build. Any others to consider? Maybe best to finish my Spark build? Last edited by chrischoi#5738 on Feb 19, 2023, 4:35:00 PM Last bumped on Feb 23, 2023, 5:18:13 PM

I found Mirror Arrow Necro on youtube.
Currently, I'm doing TS + Artillery Ballista hybrid but it's not great for sanctum. I think what some people said about the progression of relic upgrades and how they'll make it easier for us in the subsequent attempts are true. I have millions of DPS but the mobs just seemed really tough. Probably optimize by switching Grace to Hatred (since the former is useless in sanctums). Perhaps run lower tier maps and turn off Wellspring of Creation so sanctum mobs die faster. This league is a test of how players deal with monster mechanics and I'm just a terrible player mechanically. |

" That's my issue. Mixed with bad luck. Melee players are getting through Sanctum since the closer you are, the less damage they take. Ice CoC with good damage. I couldn't get passed floor 3. Tried RF and totems, same thing. I think Ice CoC did the best for me because of DPS. So mechanically it seems traps around the corners or Spark filling the screen would be best. Just can't get my self-chill Spark working well enough. Might have to go with another Ward loop build. Last edited by chrischoi#5738 on Feb 19, 2023, 6:48:29 PM

What's killing you that you can't get past Floor 3 with totems? This may not be a build issue if that's the case. You are likely better served by telling us which rooms or monsters you can't deal with.

" Nothing specific or I just keep flame dashing directly at them and just can't break the habit. Was hard for me even with Freezing Pulse and Ice Spear Totems. I try to dodge and run around in a circle or keep distance. But a distance attack will get me and do big damage. It's not traps or surprise monsters. So I was thinking there was something that could cast fast enough, far enough, off screen enough. Just can't dodge and get attacks off fast enough. I think the furthest I got was with a Cospri's Ice CoC. |

Just get some tankiness and relics that give you inspiration when receiving an affliction, or max resolve when killing boss or using fountain. For tankiness, as ranger I'm doing fine with 3k hp, 78% all resists and 28k armor (0 evasion, ~0 spell suppression).
I tried CaptainLance's build, great dps, but it's getting one shot by everything. One mistake and you need to start over, not my style. Last edited by 6_din_49#4066 on Feb 20, 2023, 6:05:24 PM

" A couple of things I can recommend then: 1) Get a cheat sheet for the room types if you don't know them and learn which rooms you do better in vs which ones you do worse in. Avoid picking the bad ones wherever possible. 2) If you are playing totems, go SLOW. Chuck the totems in the room and hide outside. Do NOT run in after placing them. The idea is to make use of the fact that totems can deal damage without you actually being there. Basically if you are dying to mechanics even with artifacts that give you inspiration and resolve, no build will work for you. You have to fix your playing mechanics if you want to clear the Sanctum. |
|
" So keep running through until I get usable relics. It's not the builds that die, but running out of resolve. |

What I'm saying is, if you keep failing because you have an unbreakable urge to keep running/flame dashing head first into the mobs, no build is going to complete the Sanctum for you. You need to fix your gameplay mechanics if you want to pass.

I was really careful and let my totems deal with the mobs but still got two-shotted by a stray icy rain of arrows from the icy guard. I have already moved two screens away. Those hits somehow ignored all my resolves and inspiration so I died with 400 resolve+insp remaining.
