Make Trade Great Again

actually, the only trade system that works can be seen in ruthless mode.

people actually respond to trades in seconds, there are no scamming attempts and i never felt like it would kill my gaming time when i had to leave areas for a trade cause it happens so sparsely.

it tells alot about the current trade system and what it has been designed for originally.

which leaves the question of "what's wrong", current trade or current drop rates of items and currency.

Ruthless works because it's not saturated and it only attracts the masochists, opposed to trade that is composed of everything from noobs to RMTrs and in between.

"What's wrong" with trade is simple, it doesn't accommodate everyone, just a slice of the pop. Noobs are mostly left sucking their thumbs with current trade and there isn't any other viable option available. Hell, even dealing with some high value trades is annoying as some will outright change the value in the spot and ask for double because they have a sudden "it's worth more than what i've set" idea.

The only thing that trade needs to be is reliable enough to cut down the bullshit. An NPC for trade while you're online is the best compromise.

Introducing the HIDEOUT VENDOR. This little guy should come default with every Hideout for decoration, but only have a function when a player toggles their premium tabs to be viewable in his/her menu. The tab is visible as a whole thing in the vendor, and a person who can visit your hideout can browse and buy any items listed there if they have the requisite currency (which gets transferred to a vendor "C.O.D" remove-only tab.

GGG,

I'd pay $100 for this. Give us 1 for free, and make us pay per tab past that.

2 facts:
1. This trade system is awful and a total time waster for small trades in the 1-10 Chaos range. Yet this trades have to be done and GGG is fully aware how awful it is.

It's annoying for both parties. As someone who does do the 10c trades, it's annoying to drop out of your map or whatever and then not get the trade because the person has messaged 50 other ppl, to combat the original problem.

Edit: remember when maps were actually hard to solo-self-find?

Please read the trade manifesto for why the current system is as it is.

Yes, it is still current.

So that's where we are today. It's easy to list items for trade, easy to search for items, and is often quite frustrating to complete a trade. This remaining frustration is the only thing standing in the way of trades being basically instant. While we understand that this sounds like a positive thing, we are very concerned regarding what will happen if that does eventuate. We have to prioritise the long-term health of Path of Exile.

What you ask for will not happen.

"Great AGAIN"?
Was it ever good though? Let alone great?

It's better than Diablo II trade system which is as rudimentary as it can humanly get. D2 trading is basically stone age of trading - only merch for merch, items don't stack at all, tiny inventory.

POE is a slight step up with functional currency - stacking, but not high enough.

I would just implement trade gold at this point. It's laughably easy to do. Put a vendor in there that sells 1 gold coin for 1 chaos orb. And 1 chaos orb for 1 gold coin too. 1:1 exchange. Gold occupies 1 inventory space and stacks up to 50,000.

This alone would make trading much easier.

Or even better. Change chaos orb stack size to 50,000. Same effect.

i m from the camp that would like auto trade.
as long as you're online, any item that you list with a buyout price should be auto traded if someone wants it and has the currency.

playing sanctum, its freaking distracting getting messages from players who want to buy my stuff. i dont blame them, truly. i blame the system. (looks at GGG).

sanctum is the most engaging league mechanic i've ever enjoyed in my decade of POEing.

one reason GGG made trading difficult was so we play the game more.

ironically as it is now, its making me play the game less.

when i have a huge bulk of currency i want to offload. i need to just stand like an idiot in my HO, while trading with 5-7 people before i run out of currency and resume trading.

even then i would want to log out for a minute or two to avoid players spamming me for items that no longer exist.

To respond to a few comments in no particular order.
I dont personally support offline trade. That is a clear breach of GGG's manifesto, and would make the market WAY too saturated with everything.
I don't want the addition of gold. I hate gold as a currency base.
I agree that the current implementation of trading in POE is so unfun that it makes me less interested in mapping and playing. Because I know at a certain point I need to trade to craft or trade to upgrade, but it sucks so much that it makes me quit if i think it will take too much effort.

Further on the original idea, I dont think a hideout vendor is against the manifesto.

- Maybe limit the trade vendor to a single inventory size.
- Maybe have a limit of how many trades The vendor can perform each day (or have it refresh with something like kirac's missions)
- Or maybe have it only function for special tabs. This could deal with maps, fragments, currency, even uniques because you can only have one of each unique in there at a time.
- Or have him take a % cut of every trades (or when you withdraw your earnings)
- Maybe, like expedition masters, he needs a special currency to function.

There are so many ways to fine tune an idea like this.

I think it's inevitable that we get change, and I just want it sooner rather than after people find a new game that fills the gameplay and character building needs but just has better UX.

This is a refreshing and well thought idea, I like it how it is proposed. This vendor NPC could be limited to a few tabs at times, like you can select up to 3 tabs to be sold by him and the rest would remain as your regular premium tabs that you need to leave map and conduct the trade yourself. That would make so that you can list all the cheap stuff that you dont really wanna leave map for it with him and the really juicy stuff you can trade and chek yourself.

Since for it to work the player needed to be online, inviting and everything, I think its a great "meet me half way" type of solution for those who want an auto trade system and GGG trade site experience.

I would def use this for the cheap items and for small currency trades (like alts and etc), because I often get over 5k chaos/alts/jewellers in my tab just out of lazyness to trade them with other ppl for like 10 inventory of clicks. Not worth my time or my wrist
+1 from me.
anything along these lines would be better than what it is now.
