Imho some of the soft banned skill pool was objectivly stronger.
What is impressive to me is that people figure deterministic ways to clear the game in a faily accurate time window. It' exciting for 5 minutes and it's imho the only upside of this, imho very degrading for the game, event. This gauntlet made the red flags even "redder", Ziz getting sponsorship for his events, is actually destroying his own passion himself. Let me explain it if you can handle a bit of text, gladly it's not Twitter: Imho the issue is not that a very small portion of the playerbase is dedicated enough to deeply influence the metagame, it is actually the way the informations and the precisions of those informations that circulate about their feats. Two decades ago it was not like that at all, there was infos and a meta but nothing was set in stone and you had to recoup / interview people and do your research to figure shit out. Right now in modern days, you are funnelled into netpicking things online and hence, in particular economy based games, are balanced toward "good students" playing in check, everybody is bound to play like others or have a crappy experience. I mean top streamers also aknowledge that they copy guys they watch playing until they hopefully do better. The "elite gamers" Chris want to think we are are actually mostly headless horsmen(replace the horse by your wrists) The metagames of modern days just suck and PoE metagame is probably one of the most daunting to engage in. I have played PoE less and less those last 3 years, skipping entiere leagues, and last time I had fun was with 3.13 because nothing was set in stone with the atlas skill trees, I had already a solid understanding of mapping mechanics and experimented a crapton with it, it was unknown territory without ruining the gameplay experience(not playing a crappy no future build). Last league I was working at league start, everybody was set in stone day 4 when I patched my game, I had nothing to discover or experiment with already :). However props to GGG, one of my mate who plays poe since beta has seen a red maps and killed some pinnacle bosses. He is now less frustrated by the game, lots of suffering seeing some of his friends progressing while sucking for almost a decade, he has seen the content now he feels good. " are those relics really that rare? i found 4 of them in like few days after they introduced them |
|
" quite a few people haven't seen even one. ive gotten 1 sanctified relic one countless invocation ones and some of the others. I delete everything but the sanctified relic one(that goes into next run) and if I were to ever get an original sin one. |

I just think the relic dropchance is 1/6 or w/e, it felt like even weighting for each type of "run" relic to me. That being said its pretty easy to get a streak where you don't drop one.
Also agreed Galuf that's why we won't get MMOs as formative as we did in the past, easy access to information and sharing of that information (especially with datamining etc) means everything is sourced and extrapolated immediately. I think the bans were irrelevant though. I don't think its possible to make it so the top contenders aren't playing the same thing, there is money on the line and some of them actually practice in preparation so they are going to focus on whatever is strongest and most reliable. |

" The metagames of modern age you're referring to is basically the availability/accessibility of verifiable information as well as video evidence at palm of your hands, on-demand. And the speed at which this info can trickle down from players who invest thousands of hours to people who play casually. What you say "set in stone" is basically knowledge that isn't changed from existing meta. In such a way, 3.15/3.16 was new meta for defenses, and PoE2 will definitely be a new thing with all the new stuff ascendancies unknown campaign and so on Or you can just play blind, lol |
