'protocol violation reading wstring from network'

Just got this error, first time I have seen it. Have also been dealing with a different network error: 'Unable to deserialize packet with PID #'. Any help appreciated.

that normaly means that you have Malwarebytes installed on your PC and that program is known to block / interfere with PoE traffic. You will need to either remove it or whitelist PoE.
Ya I was trying to troubleshoot this myself and I came across that, but to my knowledge I don't have malwarebytes on my computer. It doesn't show up in my programs list either, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. Happy to hear any other ideas.

do you have other "security software" installed on your PC that could do this ?
I used to have norton installed but have since removed it. Maybe there are some artifacts lingering around that could be causing this. Could it also be the native Windows firewall?

I have never done anything to windows firewall to get the game to work....
You must reinstall Windows using offline media to completely get rid of Malwarebytes.

You must repartition & format the disk to do this.
