General Discussion - Old gauntlet, top players use same 2-3 skills... New gauntlet top players use same 2-3 skills - Forum

So funny, I have been listening to some of the builds these gauntlet contenders are going to be using the last few days. Seismic, Cold Dot, and DD gets banned (for diversity?.... LoL, ok...). Instead of a more diverse gauntlet what we are apparently going to see is all the top players playing the same 2-3 builds, just like they did when Seismic, Cold Dot, and DD was being played. The same "diversity" just a different skill. People are always going to min max for content. So what about next gauntlet are we going to see SRS and Boneshatter banned? I agree, I don't think it's really going to improve diversity (I did say in another thread it could actually make it worse, but I think I've been proven wrong at this point). I think top players were just tired of Seismic Trap and were annoyed it got buffed this league. I'm guessing DD is banned because it scales with life difficulty modifiers which kind of defeats the point. Don't know why Cold DoT is banned. Gauntlet to me is just a trash mode made for PoE OverAchievers to show off the fact they can go hours with out touching grass. No one but those people even stand a chance of competing. Instead of banning skills, they should give a list of 2-3 skills that are the rarest skills used in the league, and have them do the gauntlet with those skills. I would be truly impressed to see them clear all the content in the game with out dying using all those garbage skills GGG refuses to fix. Alternatively, I would like to see a Gauntlet where item filters are not usable. This means you need to play the game with all the crap on the ground. You want to see something tough, try playing like that. TLDR: I want to see the "best" players succeed with the "worst" PoE has to offer. You are huffing the copium if you think this isn't a deep game, its largely figured out at this stage for those of us that have played forever but quite frankly most of the playerbase crutch those of us that know to make all the builds they play. That doesn't make the game shallow it means your wearing armbands to stop from drowning. You can do all the content on the intended mode (SC trade) with the default stash tabs and melee skills its a known fact it doesn't need proving because it has been. Because lets face it, most of the crap in this game is bloat. The skill tree is largely the same depending on where you start, doesn't matter the build. This makes 70% of the tree completely useless. The same stats are used largely across most builds, which makes a 99.9% of the gear meaninglses. The same support gems are used across most builds, which means about 80% of all the support gems are useless. There is no variety because the game deosn't allow for it due to the fact GGG balances around the best gems, builds and players. When I play I usually quit top 10 of what ever class I am playing. Go look at the characters if you don't believe me. They are all geared appropriately, with the right gems. When I quit this league, I was a top 5 RF Jugg. I know how to play this game, which is why I can state as matter-of-factly that this is a large shallow lake of a game.
