Can't use Orb or Regret points to remove nodes on passive tree

So I was away for near 8 years and came back to the game in anticipation of POE2.

Logged on to my lvl 90 Marauder and noticed all my passives were gone and I had a free reset of all passives. (which I used to reset).

I put together my build, but I want to use Orbs of Regret. I can add the regrets to my passive matrix, but I can't use them to remove any nodes.

Having researched the issues it appears that I have to make sure I don't have any jewels in place. I don't have any jewels. I go the last node to remove with regret in a line and doesn't work anywhere. Can't remove any previously placed nodes.

Not sure if this matters but in game it shows I don't have any points to allocate (with 90 regrets available), which is accurate. My POE website passive tree shows that I have 27 points left to allocate. Maybe not real-time update but mentioning nonetheless.

Not sure if you used this but when you open any passive tree, there will be a button at the top of the screen under the search bar called "Refund Passives".

Click this and you'll enter a "edit" mode. You'll have to confirm the refunded passives at the top of the screen again if you wish to refund them.

Yep, that's what I do.

After I hit the Refund Passives the "apply refund" box is grayed out. When I hit a node to remove it doesn't do anything.

A filled node is lit up and properly allocated. Shows up normally.

But I click on it after hitting refund passives and nothing happens.

I went to another character and it works fine. Can refund and works like a charm.

Just for some reason my lvl 90 character is locked completely. And I don't see any jewels that I missed (the main bug I've seen but doesn't apply here).

I do have 5 points allocated to ascend tree but can't remove those either.

Aside from certain jewels that allow you to allocate passives in radius that aren't connected to the rest of your tree, all your passives need to path back to your class' starting point. You can't remove passives that would leave part of your tree disconnected from the rest.

Edit: If it's a high lvl Standard char, look for issues with old cluster jewels. Sometimes after a tree reset, they can cause your entire tree to be refund-locked until you reallocate them.

Yep, understood. I've hit nearly every node and none of them work.

Cluster jewels just show up in "jewel slots" correct? I feel like this is the issue but I've gone over my tree up and down and don't see any jewels whatsoever.

Cluster jewels are the ones that go in the jewel sockets on the outside edges of your tree and expand it with new passives. You probably have one sitting in one of those sockets that's not currently allocated.

Are those the trees that are outside of the main tree? I don't see any of those on my tree (on my old tree from the website I see them, but non in-game).

I searched "jewel" on the passive and it highlights all the jewel slots on my tree. All of them are empty.

I think you're on to something about cluster jewels if those are different. Just can't see them.
