Using DualShock PS4 Controller On PC -- Cannot Open Inventory

As a first time player, I am attempting to play PoE via Steam on PC and using a PS4 DualShock controller.

I successfully load the game, change the configuration input to use the controller, and launch the tutorial.

I am able to pick up the weapon near me when I spawn in, interact with the NPC that I need to speak to, and then kill the zombie that attacks me.

Immediately thereafter, the tutorial mode is telling me that I need to "press <the icon of the DualShock controller's Touch Pad> to open inventory".

Pressing the Touch Pad on my controller just opens the options menu, as if I hit "ESC" on my keyboard.

All other buttons that are shown in the UI are working as intended and respond appropriately -- if I click L1, I drink the potion in that slot; if I click X, I attack, etc.

I cannot find a way to open the inventory. I've pressed every button on the controller and nothing opens the inventory. How do I do so?

For me it's the same - could somebody please help us?

@immotional, I was trying it out again and found that if I press the very upper left corner of the TouchPad, it did bring up the inventory. It seems like there's a very small area of the TouchPad where it activates the button press as necessary versus pressing it in any other location (which brings up the menu). Give that a try and see if you can reproduce this behavior. I can't offer any explanation for it but it at least seems to work reliably to access the inventory.

The "upper left corner" thing did nothing for me, there is no place on the touchpad that activates the inventory.

Apparently you have to use the 'share' button on the left of the touchpad for the inventory, contrary to the games's tutorial dialogue. Probably file this as a bug.

Same issue here since 3.21. Using Dualsense with DS4Windows (as always) but now, using touchpad for inventory opening is working very weird and random. If i push it like 50x it will open inventory sometimes once, sometimes it is also immediatelly close it.

Edit: One more thing, I guess, that before 3.21 it was the SHARE button that opened the inventory. Now SHARE button is opening chat and there is no way how to rebind it...

Same for me. Basically can’t play with a DualShock Controller. Nothing I tried let me open the menu, no options to rebind the action and I can’t even use an additional keyboard just for the inventory as there is always just one input source. Frustrating.

Seems I found a solution for this. In DS4Windows click on EDIT next to connected controller, select Other tab and under Virtual Controller Settings switch Emulated Controller from Dualshock4 to Xbox 360.

Works for me.

Actually I just managed to do it, but it's not in POE but in DS4Windows (3.3.3 on my side):
- Go to your controller or profile, click on Edit
- On the display of the controller, click on the Share button
- It opens a kind of huge rebind screen: there, you can click on the touchpad

Now the Share button is mapped to "Touchpad Click" (you can see it by hovering the share button, on the bottom list it should appear as "Share: Touchpad Click")

And voila, I hope it works for you too!
