socketed gems are supported by minion damage and spiritual aid?

so pohx said minion damage support gem works for fire trap so i got conc effect+minion damage+socketed gems deal 30% more elem dmg but the 20 lvl minion damage only gives me 100k dps more but the level 20 gem says its 40% more but it gives me 0 dmg increase on tooltip

Spiritual Aid doesn't work with minion dmg support.
Spiritual aid says "increases and reductions" while minion dmg support has "more"

I think that's incorrect. It's likely due to the minion support gem only affect the skill and that skill linked to fire trap which doesn't increase it because fire trap is not a minion skill. To make spiritual aid works, you'd use minion damage support on skills that you also use actively like dominating blow with minion tag on it. But maybe also "more" doesn't work with spiritual aid...but I think it's the former like I said above. Spiritual aid is mostly for minion damage from tree and gears. There are posts for this already by the way.

Not correct. Spiritual Aid says "increases and decreases" which are additive dmg, Minion Damage gem is "more" dmg which is multiplicative - that is the ONLY reason it doesn't work.

Using Spiritual Aid node with minion damage increase nodes on the tree works for ALL damage types as its global damage, regardless if the skill is minion or not.

Since he's the RF guy I'm assuming he was rolling shelder helmets and got this mod: Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 20 Minion Damage
Minions deal (23–25)% increased Damage

"Supported by Level 20 Minion Damage" does absolutely nothing for the damage of the socketed Fire Trap or RF. "Minions deal 25% increased damage" gives you 25% increased global damage that applies even to non-socketed skills (assuming you're using Spiritual Aid.) Thus, the mod is not a brick.

Generic global damage is great for any build with explodes because you don't have to care about specific damage type. It's also great for any build that has trouble getting %increased damage, but I don't think RF fits into that category.
